- Le Meridien Taipei 台北寒舍艾美酒店
True to its brand, Le Méridien is the epitome of luxury in hotel accommodation. Everything is bright, elegant, subtle, classic in the way that won’t go out of style. If Martha Stewart visited Taiwan, she would stay at Le Méridien. Some people want to be seen at the latest trendy hotspot where everyone’s dropping names, and others would rather live luxuriously in a spacious, grandly-designed suite. If you’re the latter, Le Méridien is the place for you. The rooms and baths are huge, with walk-in closets and even second bathrooms for guests. I love the valet box in the closet, where you can stash your dry-cleaning and shoes to be shined, hit the button, and close the door. A butler will use a key to open the valet from the outside of your hotel room, remove the clothes, and bring them back when they are done. There’s a panel next to the door that will light up “Valet” when the clothes are ready. You don’t even have to open the door to check! Just glance at the panel.Recommended for:

If you want total luxury, your best bet is Le Méridien Taipei, the city’s newest and most luxurious five-star hotel. It’s located in the fashionable Xinyi District, but in the quiet part – you won’t be bothered by the crowds or noise, but you’re just a short walk away from the best shopping and entertainment, very close to the MRT station and bus transfer station, and maybe a 10 minute walk from Taipei 101 and the World Trade Center. Plus the hotel is right behind Bellavita, Taipei’s most upscale shopping mall. The style is very elegant and cool, maybe a little unapproachable, but the staff is actually very attentive. The rooms are huge, maybe the largest in Taipei, with walk-in closets. It definitely has the biggest bathrooms in Taipei. The Latest Recipe international buffet is famous, really hard to get reservations for, but the food is great, especially the desserts and sweets. Even their versions of Taiwanese street food are exceptional.Recommended for:
