For an alleged haunted hotel Le Pavillon is more than gossip. The grandeur is above and beyond. Everywhere you look there is gold. Going at Christmastime is a tradition in our family. How many hotels do you know have PB&J sandwich buffet at 10:30 pm every night? It is my daughters' favorite hotel thanks to that little trick. Le Pavillon is located in a beautiful area of New Orleans, its Business District and not far from either Bourban or the Garden District. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure your trip is phenomenalRecommended for:Family Travelers

One of the most intricate and beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. French-inspired, the lights, the colors and the moldings are like eye candy.
I love their traditional late-night peanut butter social in their lobby. They've been serving their guests peanut butter sandwiches with hot cocoa and milk forever - and they continue to do so with the same Southern charm!
Their restaurant is pretty good as well as their bar, but it's not their strong-point.

If you feel like missed out on the splendour of Louis XIV's royal court, you might want to head on over to Le Pavillon for an over-the-top hotel interpretation of the gilded age. Gold, marble, giant chandeliers and replendent bouquets of flowers greeted me in the lobby when I visited recently, which was just a hint of things to come. The only room they had available was called The Castle Suite (room 730), which was a cross between a museum wing at The Louvre and a fancy hotel room. With castle motifs such as shields, woven tapestries, and one of the most gorgeous bathrooms I've ever seen with a stained glass window over the luxurious clawfoot tub, the Castle Suite lets you really luxe out. There was also a rooftop pool and fitness center that continued with the Court of the Sun King motifs of lions and nude sculptures. Le Pavillon is about a ten minute walk from Canal and the French Quarter, enough to feel far away from the maddening crowd, but close enough to join them when you wish.Recommended for:Luxury Travelers

The opulence!!!! Not really. The hotel was comfortable and the service was good. But it felt a bit dated / tired. Maybe I'm just not into the French influences. We stopped in the Roosevelt and it seemed more my speed.....More Atlas Shrugged than Dangerous Liaisons.
