Not only does it have an incredible history as the old hangout of figures like Picasso and Hemingway, but the entire experience is memorable. The food was among the best I've had Paris, especially the desserts! Guaranteed to be a meal you won't soon forget.

In the battle between Les Deux Magots and Cafe Flore, I'm probably more of a Cafe Flore fan, but both of these Saint-Germain establishments are great places to enjoy a light bite, coffee, or a late night drink.

It was important for me to go to the places where authors and artists spent time thinking, talking. I thought that perhaps I would get inspired, and I did, only because I thought of them and the things I remember them having said. Here, Sartre and de Beauvoir conversed, and even Camus and Hemingway spent some time. I liked sipping the good coffee (express) sitting on the banquettes against the wall, under the mirrors. The place is very nice, indeed, but has become very popular and so some of their old haunt has faded.

I suppose it's a must for tourists & literary buffs. Coffee & food are good, not great. Service is typical. If you're wandering the Left Bank, it's worth a stop, but I wouldn't go out of my way. There are many bistros and cafes that are much more fun.

Les Deux Magots is a famous café in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés area of Paris. It once had a reputation as the rendezvous of the literary and intellectual élite. It's a wonderful corner to people watch. There is a legend that says if you sit there long enough, you will see someone you know. Perhaps it originated from those who sat and imbibed a bit too much. Nevertheless, it's a "must do" whenever one visits Paris.

Bien très cher, mais l'endroit délivre encore quelque chose de ce qu'il a été dans le style point de rattachement de l'élite intellectuelle.

14/20; Food 8/10, Ambience 3/5, Service 3/5. Famous brasserie/bistrot. A (rare-ish) intersection of fashionable Parisian locals and tourists. Definitely a bit chi-chi, and certainly exhibiting some of the ubiquitous indifference to service, BUT the food is really really good traditional Parisian bistrot fare (in my experience better than the even more famous Brasserie Lipp), with a wide range of everything from well-prepared salad through to a full-on steak tartare. And it, especially on a warm day, it is a buzzing, pleasant spot to while away a few hours and absorbing Paris life.

you must stop here for some café or une orange presée...and perhaps l'ambiance will inspire you to become an artist like those who hung out at this place for enlightenment. Deux Magot was a popular hangout for les avant-gardes such as Guillaume Apollinaire, Albert Camus, Picasso and other artists.

The busiest corner, always good for people watching... and acting like you are a part of the Parisian life. If only that is!
Grab some hot chocolate sit back and enjoy, the people, the accent, the cigarettes, and the grey skies!

Not the greatest French restaurant, but one of the most famous. Worth checking out for historic reasons. Nice setting, interior, etc., but just don't expect to be blown away by the food. Bon courage!

This is a wonderful traditional French Bistro serving local flavors along with a nice wine selection on a welcoming ambiance. The service is especially attentive. It is certainly delightful!
