an absolute must if you're visiting this great city! Levain has the best cookies in the entire city. Their dark chocolate peanut butter chip cookie is to die for, and CERTAINLY worth the 800 calories!

    Heavenly, Amen!

    Recommendation
*Taking a bite of the fresh baked Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie is like having a chocolate bomb explode in your mouth. So eat with caution!
*Chocolate Chip Walnut is awesome too.
*Go on a weekend, because they seem to crank out the cookies more frequently and you're more likely to get one that was freshly baked. When they tell you to let it cool, EAT IT RIGHT AWAY :D

My sister dragged me in here once to try "the best cookie ever" and I'm pleased to say: it was a damn good cookie. HUGE cookie, too.

Two friends opened this cozy Upper West Side bakery, won a following for their rustic breads and hockey-puck-size cookies, and now satisfy cravings in Harlem and the Hamptons too. The award-winning chocolate chip walnut cookie has the perfect consistency—a nice outer layer of crunch with a melt-in-your-mouth gooey center—and is loaded with semisweet chocolate chips and walnuts.

Must-Try Item: The cookies, whether oatmeal raisin or decadent dark-chocolate peanut butter chip, and the rustic blueberry muffins, which sell out most mornings.

I would've missed this little bakery if I didn't look for it! Levain Bakery's cookies have no equals - they present a fine balance between crispy and moist. I can't recall exactly what kind of cookie I order; but it had chocolate chips and possibly a dose of fairy dust. I also tried the crispy pizza which was unlike what I had in mind. It was all kinds of flavorful (a tad too strong for me) - but rather stiff. The pizza is not your typical slice for lunch.

By all means, do not deny yourself the cookies!

Hands down one of the best cookies I've ever had. Warm. Chewy. Crispy. Gooey. Chocolate. Walnutty. Take two for the road. Go on a walk. Eat. Explore. Drink some milk. Eat. Explore. Drink some milk. Repeat.

Home of the quarter pounder cookie. Get the chocolate chip walnut - it's the best of the bunch. Big enough to share!

Two swimmers turned entrepreneurs needed a delicious alternative to the energy bars they sought after post swim. The result was a monstrous cookie.

Only three words come to mind: Nom, nom, nom. You’ll want to try everything here, and if you’re in town for a while you will come back to get “the one that got away.” Everything is delicious. Just yum.

Oh my. Their chocolate chip cookies are amazing. A. Ma. ZIng.

They also make several other things that are just fantastic. In addition to the Chocolate Walnut Cookie they also make a great Oatmeal Raisin cookie, and a Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip cookie. For pastries, their Cinnamon Brioche is outstanding. If you are here on the weekend, then check out their Raisin Sticky Bun and Walnut Sticky Bun.

You know how sometimes you have a favorite place you drop by on your way to the airport and get some food to take home on the plane for your friends and family? This is one of ours.

In my opinion one of the best bakeries in the city, it's little out of the way but worth every minute spent heading uptown. Their breakfast pastries are just to die for, but everyone knows their chocolate chip cookies are something not to be missed. They're rather large, but not disgustingly large quite yet.

The staff is all very friendly here, I was greeted with warm smiles and that delicious delicious smell coming from their ovens.
