I like this hotel. A lot. Something about it feels like a private club, probably because it’s tucked away on the top three floors of a high-end retail and condo complex. The ground floor is simple with just a reception desk, but that’s because the real lobby area is upstairs; an exclusive split-level space that includes a business centre, dining room and living-room-style lounge. This is a really unique (and large) space, especially for a hotel with just 60-rooms. It’s the perfect place to lounge after a long day of sightseeing or business meetings.
Although there’s nothing exciting about the décor in the guest rooms (the monochromatic tone is a little plain), they are spotless, quiet and relatively large compared to other hotels—the smallest room is 330-square-feet and has a king-sized bed.
My favourite feature, however, is the outdoor salt-water lap pool. It’s heated, so you can enjoy an early morning dip even on rainy days. Couple it with the ‘boutique breakfast’ buffet, and you may think twice about checking out.Recommended for:

L’Hermitage is not a very prominent hotel which is probably a function of it sharing its lobby with its residential neighbours. It’s located a few blocks from busy shopping and dining centres but is still on a relatively quiet street mostly filled by residential buildings and low-intensity commercial. Even the suites look more like residential units than the typical hotel. It does have doormen and a proper hotel lobby though.
Despite the residential feel, the best parts of L’Hermitage are very much hotel. The outdoor salt-water lap-pool and jacuzzi are tucked away behind the building above the noisy distractions of the street below. The business centre and lounge area, while maintaining a homey feeling with warm carpeting, cozy furnishings, and a fireplace, still serves breakfast and provides a room with books to read and computer terminals to write e-mails or check your flight status.
While L’Hermitage isn’t the most exciting hotel downtown Vancouver has to offer but it certainly has a nice cozy quiet feeling which could be just the recipe for staying just blocks from the busy business, stadium, and entertainment districts, without actually experiencing them through the night.Recommended for:

Pet friendly in spades! The staff of this newish boutique hotel in Vancover go out of their way to make your doggie pals welcome, including comfy dog beds and bowls as well as a treat package. For humans they're just as welcoming. The staff are terrific including the concierge, Raymond, who made lots of behind the scenes calls to ensure our dinners out over Christmas were wonderful. The bell staff is attentive and friendly. Our room? Over the top wonderful. Try to book a room with a terrace and kitchen. Ours came with full sized laundry facilities. The location is perfect too, easily walkable to Yaletown, Gastown, and the main shopping areas downtown. We'll be staying here on our next visit.
