Liberty Hotel

215 Charles Street, Boston, MA 02114
17 reviews

The Liberty is definitely the coolest hotel I've stayed at in Boston. It was literally a prison until 1990 and has been converted into a luxury hotel beautifully. It also has a great lobby, cool bar called Alibi and restaurant called Clink. The outdoor terrace is a great place to hang out at night for a drink. The rooms are ...

Alibi Bar & Lounge at Liberty Hotel

    0.02 mi from Liberty Hotel
    8 reviews

Alibi lounge is a great place to go to hang out with friends or mingle outside your crowd. The lounge is located on the first floor of Liberty Hotel. The hotel used to be a prison in the early 1900s and now it's a trendy hotel that inherited some historic decor: catwalks, prison bars, and brick foundation. Fun fact: Malcolm ...

Clink Restaurant at The Liberty Hotel Boston

    0.03 mi from Liberty Hotel
    4 reviews

So much fun! Dining or drinking in a former jail doesn't sound exciting but at Clink it's way too much fun. The drinks have quirky names like Jailbait, and boy are they yummy! Mug shots of famous Boston ne'er-do-wellers and famous celebs line the walls. Some of the jail bars are still intact too!

Went there with a large group for a pre-race dinner before the Boston Marathon. Though the restaurant was packed, the service was prompt and food was pretty good. Not sure it is differentiated enough for me to go back there.

    Union Oyster House

    0.7 mi from Liberty Hotel
    21 reviews

Union Oyster House, described as "America's oldest restaurant," was established in 1826. Think of all the historic people who might've dined here! Located on the Freedom Trail and just a block from Faneuil Hall, it's a place steeped in history. I've not been, but I've heard great things about their clam chowder, and now dining at Union Oyster House is ...

The best Italian party, followed closely by Modern across the street. There is always a huge line out the door, but the cannoli are worth waiting.

    Quincy Market / Faneuil Hall

    0.75 mi from Liberty Hotel

This is a great block to walk around and explore. Quincy Market has some amazing food booths (I highly recommend Boston Chowda for lobster rolls and clam chowder). Faneuil Hall is a beautiful historic building where you can hear all about the history from a local.

    Modern Pastry

    0.81 mi from Liberty Hotel

Modern is a poorly kept secret. The desserts are just about as good as Mikes, but usually without as long a line. The lobster tails here are outstanding, and the coffee and gelato are surprisingly good as well.

For those of you old enough to remember the TV show, this is a cheesy thrill you might understand. It is small, there are huge crowds but it is centrally located and of course, I got the obligatory photo.

    Caffe Vittoria

    0.85 mi from Liberty Hotel
    11 reviews

Some friends and I ducked into Caffe Vittoria one afternoon because Mike's Pastry next door was way too much of a madhouse to have a decent conversation. We had the chocolate cannoli and a cappuccino. The cannoli was a normal size (vs. the monster ones at Mike's), but the shell was a little over-fried in my opinion. Definitely a decent ...

Giacomo's Italian Restaurant is the best Italian restaurant on the north end. The food is delicious, and you only have to watch were the lines start to form to see which restaurant the locals love the most. Giacomos always had the longest lines of any of the north end restaurants.

Best way to go here is to eat as party of one. You will be seated right away. If you show up as party of two then expect an average of an hour wait. They will call you via phone. Their oysters were good but not impressive enough for me to pay more. Their Lobster was amazing... Pricey... But amazing. ...

This is a very innovative sushi restaurant. We tried the chef’s menu which offered 14 items both raw and cooked, with twists like searing and foam added to the usual techniques for sushi and luxury non-traditional ingredients like truffles. They also have a fairly extensive menu of not commonly seen Japanese beers. Service was very attentive. Very expensive but an ...

Finally made my way over to historic and popular Marliave! The happy hour is a steal with 1.50 an oyster (with 4 varieties to choose from). The drinks were a throw-back to prohibition and all equally tasty. The top floor is perfect on a warm evening; there are plenty of windows for a warm breeze.
