The Library of Congress gives tours just have to call ahead and in front of the library their are couple of disability parking space but need to call ahead. Plus there are two areas that are researchers that Library has. These documents go all the back to early American history with some of these documents are on micro film and transcribe.

Beautiful architecture. The inside decoration of the Library of Congress is amazing. It is DC's oldest cultural institution and its collection spans 4 buildings. Just don't plan on visiting on Sunday because it is closed.

The Library of Congress is the official undisputed national library of the United States. When you walk around and see the vast columns and high ceilings with the grand interior, you almost feel like you're walking inside a grand European palace.

A very nice and impressive building. The more you look at it, the more interesting details you notice. You must certainly have a look at the marvelous fountain in front of the building at street level.

The Library of Congress is indeed impressive. It supposedly contains all books, articles, records, and pretty much everything ever printed in US history and also tons of foreign literature. However, unless you are there to do research, there really isn't much to do except to just walk through.
We visited the Library of Congress and ended up just spending less than 20 minutes walking around. It is a library so you have to be quiet and there are so many rules and regulations you have to keep in mind of while you are there.
I would say visit once just to say you have been there.

It's the Library of Congress, do we really need to say anything?
The building is gorgeous. You can visit this place like a tourist and go through the tour and the visitors center, but it really is a library.
To be able to go in an actually go through the stacks however, you need to get your reading room card. You can go here: http://www.loc.gov/rr/ma… for more information. If anything, it's a cute FREE souvenir to have but don't tell them that's what you are doing it for. You need to be serious about your request. Say that you are researching stuff for your family tree or need to research for school. Just don't say that you are doing it because you want a freaking free library card.
parking can be a pain, but you can easily access it by bus or metro, so be green and travel with public transportation!
