    Miraflores Indian Market

    10 reviews

This market is pretty conveniently located - only a few blocks from Parque Kennedy - and is the best place to buy all of your souvenirs for reasonable prices before heading home. There are hundreds upon hundreds of stalls scattered over multiple independent buildings, but if you try to hit every one you'll likely start seeing the same stuff over ...

    Miraflores

    35 reviews

This is the district where most tourists stay, as the colonial downtown area is a little rundown. This is one of the best areas in the city to find good hotels, fantastic restaurants, and shopping - both for cheap souvenirs and upscale designer wear. A typical tourist route includes walking from Parque Kennedy down Larco Avenue to Larcomar, a mall ...

    Parque de la Reserva

    6 reviews

This stands out as one of my favorite things about Lima. Entrance to the park was inexpensive and the water features and laser/music show on one of the fountains was awesome. Definitely worth a visit.

    Circuito Mágico del Agua

    7 reviews

The Magic Water Tour in the Parque de la Reserva was one of the most fun things we did in Lima. I totally recommend it to everyone at any age. You have to go when it gets dark because of all the colorful lights. They say it is the largest fountain complex in the world!

    Paragliding in Lima

    8 reviews

Because of the geothermal layers around the cliffs near the Miraflores area, almost any time when looking up, paragliders can be seen in the sky, soaring high and low....and having a really fantastic view of the parklike malecon and ocean below. Impromptu tandem paragliding tours can be easily picked up along the malecon in the Miraflores area for those adventure ...

    Museo Larco

    8 reviews

The Museo Larco is not typically on a short list of things-to-do in Lima but it should be. It contains an excellent collection of pre-Columbian artifacts. As a special bonus, you get to go into a back room with floor to ceiling shelves filled with pottery that didn’t fit into the main museum exhibits. Another bonus is a collection of ...

    Parque John F. Kennedy

    7 reviews

This park is a great place to wander around, especially on the weekend. Get a snack at one of the many food carts that dot the park, and on the weekend, there are often shows in the sunken stage area and a handicrafts market set up close by. This is also one of my favorite places to get Peruvian art ...

    Malecón de la Reserva

    5 reviews

Malecón is what they call the Lima shoreline, that stands on top of a huge wall of eroded land, where the city is. The whole extension of the Malecon on the Miraflores district is covered by beautiful and well cared for parks with playgrounds, bike and running tracks, benches to watch the sunset and free public wi-fi. A truly beautiful ...

    Parque de las Leyendas

    7 reviews

Lima's zoo. Has a nice collection of animals from the many different ecological zones in Peru, and is a pleasant place to walk through. It isn't in the most touristy neighborhoods, and it can take a bit of time because of traffic to get there.

    Parque El Olivar

    2 reviews

This is one of the most tranquil places in all of Lima and a great place to have a picnic or go for a stroll. The park is named for its olive trees, but be careful - there's a fine for picking the olives.

    Parque Maria Reiche

    4 reviews

This park takes up a long area along the elevated part of the coast. It's very well taken care of and the grass is decorated with Nazca-lines-like figures drawn with flowers. There is free public wi-fi on the park and it's a great place to walk on the coast and watch a romantic sunset.

    Parque del Amor

    24 reviews

This park is a unique place to stroll along the wonderful cliffs landing in the ocean in the midst of Lima. It’s clean and nicely landscaped, has twisting trails taking you far away, probably switching to other parks along the shoreline.

    Hacienda Mamacona

    4 reviews

Did you know that the Peruvian paso horse is one of the most comfortable to ride in the world? This is because of its stride, which keeps the bouncing to a minimum. Most people assume they've been trained to walk in the strange knees-up way, but it's actually their natural way of walking. Hacienda Mamacona is a fantastic place to ...

    San Francisco Cathedral and Catacombs

    18 reviews

This historic church is a usual on the tourist beat. Highlights of the tour (and the site can only be accessed by tour -- available in English) include the painting of Jesus eating guinea pig at the last supper, the fascinating library, and the creepy catacombs. Given how cheap a visit is, and the proximity to Plaza de Armas, I ...
