Lima's nicest neighborhood - hip, artsy and right on the Pacific!

    Barrio Chino

    10 reviews

Barrio Chino has a reputation for being...not very friendly. My family still took me here on my behalf - especially since the archway was donated to Lima by Taiwan! There is a little pedestrian walkway that is cute and is the entryway to many restaurants and shops. Come during the day, stay vigilant and you'll be fine.

    Parque del Amor

You can see couples making out on almost any free bench around Lima (a product of a live-at-home-until-you-are-married culture), and yet this park does still have an extra special air of love about it. Perhaps - ok, definitely - because of the giant kissing statue by artist Victor Delfín, showing a loving couple in full embrace. The beautiful sea view, ...

    Hacienda Mamacona

Did you know that the Peruvian paso horse is one of the most comfortable to ride in the world? This is because of its stride, which keeps the bouncing to a minimum. Most people assume they've been trained to walk in the strange knees-up way, but it's actually their natural way of walking. Hacienda Mamacona is a fantastic place to ...

    Larcomar

    25 reviews

This is absolutely one of the most uniquely-situated malls that you will ever visit. There are lots of modern shops and restaurants, and if you time your visit right, there is no better place in the city to get a drink and watch the sun set than at one of the restaurants with balconies overlooking the ocean.

    Costa Verde

    4.5
    9 reviews

This is not the sort of beach that you want to spend hours sunbathing on - it's really rocky and can get incredibly crowded during the summer. With that said, it is a fabulous beach if you are looking for convenience from Lima - there are multiple stairways leading down to it from coastal districts like Miraflores and Barranco - ...

    Parque John F. Kennedy

This park is a great place to wander around, especially on the weekend. Get a snack at one of the many food carts that dot the park, and on the weekend, there are often shows in the sunken stage area and a handicrafts market set up close by. This is also one of my favorite places to get Peruvian art ...

    Miraflores Indian Market

    8 reviews

This market is pretty conveniently located - only a few blocks from Parque Kennedy - and is the best place to buy all of your souvenirs for reasonable prices before heading home. There are hundreds upon hundreds of stalls scattered over multiple independent buildings, but if you try to hit every one you'll likely start seeing the same stuff over ...

    Museo Larco

    6 reviews

The Museo Larco is not typically on a short list of things-to-do in Lima but it should be. It contains an excellent collection of pre-Columbian artifacts. As a special bonus, you get to go into a back room with floor to ceiling shelves filled with pottery that didn’t fit into the main museum exhibits. Another bonus is a collection of ...

    Paragliding in Lima

    6 reviews

Because of the geothermal layers around the cliffs near the Miraflores area, almost any time when looking up, paragliders can be seen in the sky, soaring high and low....and having a really fantastic view of the parklike malecon and ocean below. Impromptu tandem paragliding tours can be easily picked up along the malecon in the Miraflores area for those adventure ...

Jockey Plaza is a complete mall on the Surco neighborhood, which is a residential area. If you want to go shopping in Lima, this is the place to go - you'll find most american flagship stores like Tommy Hilfiger, Guess, Timberland, Steve Madden, the two department store giants Ripley and Saga Falabella, a large food court and restaurants on the ...

    Circuito Mágico del Agua

    4.5

You wouldn't think a bunch of water fountains would be so entertaining, but you can easily find yourself spending a few hours here. Come at night, and make sure you catch one of the regular music and light shows at the biggest fountain. If you have kids, be sure to put them in clothes that can get wet, as one ...

    Malecón de la Reserva

    5
    5 reviews

This is simply my favorite place in the universe to watch the sun set. The district of Miraflores has been dumping tons of money into this cliff-top walkway, and there are now beautiful parks, playgrounds for kids, public art displays and much more to play in and look at. For a birds-eye view of the coast, there are paragliding companies ...

Overlooking the Bajada de Los Banos on Barranco is an unassuming bridge called La Puente de los Suspiros. Legend has it that if you hold your breath while crossing the bridge for the first time, you are granted a wish.
