Just love this zoo! It is large and wonderful. Lots of animals, activities, and celebrations like Zoo Lights during the holidays. We enjoy the merry-go-round. Look on their website for programming. Mr. Singer is a blast for kids and so is feeding the cows in the morning--both are in the farm area.

I thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk through this free zoo in Chicago and seeing the different animals, plus it's another great place for a view of the Chicago skyline with a diagram pointing out what the buildings are that you're looking at.

For a free Zoo it is a great place to bring the kids. Paired with adjacent parks and many indoor and outdoor attractions it is the perfect trip on a summer Chicago day. Park closes at 5pm

The Lincoln Park Zoo is a well put together and fee free location. This zoo is user friendly, lush and green, set right on Lake Michigan. During our visit we lucked out and were able to see the butterfly exhibition as well!

Best Zoo Ever! The best of Chicago is FREE! Beautiful space to walk. Take a nice walk thru historic Old Town to get to this location from our vacation rental.

Open 365 days a year, the Lincoln Park Zoo is just a few minutes from Chicago; you can actually hear the lion’s roar echo off nearby apartment buildings. And yet, if you want to feel like you’ve gotten away from city life, you can retreat to the re-created rainforests or savannas. Kids will enjoy the colorful Bird House and Bear Habitat, and you’ll pretend not to squirm when you visit the Lion House or get close to a boa in the Small Mammal-Reptile House.

I'm not a person that generally enjoys zoos. I dislike all the walking and can find it boring, as there isn't much more to do other than stare at the animals. However, there were a wide variety of animals at this zoo, and perhaps it was the time of day, but the animals were rather lively. I would recommend dropping by, even for just a few hours.

Feels more like a park but, it's free. Great to take kids I guess when you are on a tight budget. Best time to visit is in the summer! It's too cold to go any other time. Besides I am sure the animals are inside to be kept warm.

This a nice place to spend a few hours and it is free. They have a nice facility and do a good job of keeping the area and cages clean. Bus #151 goes directly there. They are currently expanding to include snow monkeys from Japan.

This is a great place to spend an afternoon wandering around. When I've visited, it's been hit-or-miss with some of the animals. I've never, for instance, gotten a good look at any of the big jungle cats.

What's great about this zoo is that it's open year round and it's always free. Come anytime--even if it's cold. You can duck into the conservatory and warm up among the jungle plants.

I'm not a fan of zoos. That said, if you are going to visit one, this is a relatively nice one. Conveniently located in a gorgeous park. I hate to see the animals living in captivity but this zoo is more humane than most and has a wide variety of animals.

This is the zoo of my childhood. We'd beg our parents to take us there, then spend hours looking at the gorillas, elephants, and monkeys. My favorite was the lion house. Later as a teen I'd ride my bike there, and then, as an adult I'd go in winter just to see the ducks sliding around on the iced over ponds. A world-class zoo that also serves as a green space in the midst of the big city. Big plus, it's free and open every day.

Rare free outing in Chicago. Zoo is just the right size so you can see most or all of it in an afternoon. Great for young children. And if you have more time, you can cross over lake shore drive on the south end of the zoo and go to the beach. Parking is limited so you have to come early to get a spot, else you can do street parking and walk over but you will have to feed the meter every 2 hours.

If you like zoos, and/or if you like free attractions, come here. The animals were very active. We got to hear the lion roar! Though it's not enormous, it is well maintained.
