Lingshan was one of my favorite stops while travelling in China a couple of years ago. It is located in the town of Mashan and in close proximity to Lake Taihu. The Grand Buddha is a towering structure comparable to the Statue of Liberty. Below the statue there is also a temple worth checking out.
There is another statue nearby in the shape of a lotus flower that rotates with music playing with a baby Buddha popping up at the end as part of the show.
Also within the confines of the same park is Lingshan Brahma Palace which was built at a huge cost with heavy use of gold. Inside is a church like hall filled with plenty of religious imagery. Though it was interesting to see a lighted ceiling that is better suited for a nightclub.
