So what if this place is closed… I do miss it. I always enjoy being up close and next to dangerous beasts… I mean look at my friends and enemies… Hell perhaps they are frenemies… but yeah back to the subject at hand…

I have never seen these lions ever move from a sleeping position out of having seen them like 15+ times. I think the exhibit was closed years before but no one told anyone anything and the lions were mummified by the dry desert air… purportedly they did move now and then at feeding time… or were there strings attached… did anyone see if someone was working a marionette inside the cage?

None the less I do miss gazing upon these magnificent beasts. I do love big cats quite a bit so I am sad that they removed them. However I am happy to be out of the danger zone at the same time… perhaps someday they will return to the Metro Goldwyn Meyer casino…

I am SO bummed this is closed now. I used to love to go over and look at the lions. Sometimes there were little lion cubs...and when there were you could have your picture taken with the cubs. It was a lot of fun to watch the lion and lionesses "do their thing." So sad it's not there anymore.

Being able to walk through a tunnel and see the lions over the top of you was pretty cool. My grandsons thought that was the best thing about Vegas!

This used to be a really cool exhibit in the MGM Hotel/Casino with hand-raised baby lions, but it is closed now. The lions had a huge enclosure with a plexi-glass walkway to give viewers am awesome view of the kitties running around and resting.

Nice seeing the lions around. But last time I saw it, one of the trainers was trying to get out of harms way from the lion.

My absolute must visit. Although crowded, worth hanging out and just watching the lions.Plexiglass tunnel is great when they fall asleep a couple feet above your head and everyone loves it. For adults I recommend grabbing a ridiculously large drink before you go. More fun that way.

Update as of August 18 2012 MGM Hotel has closed the exhibit down. Just to see the MGM Hotel is great but the loins are avalable, just walk by and that is it, but it's free and accessible.

Being that close to lions with a really thick acrylic glass separating you is purely crazy and awesome at the same time.

It is really neat watching the trainers interact with the lions. I can't help but think I hope that lion doesn't take off the trainer's head, they are wild animals after all.

The last time I saw them, all did was sleep and sleep and more sleep. That's alright. I probably would do the same too if people stared at me for a better part my of my day.

Probably the closet that you'll ever come to real lions! What's most amazing is that it's also just a few feet away from slot machines in the casino!

Just felt bad for the poor guys that had to sit in the habitat all day with the lions...didn't look like it was all that much fun trying to coax the kitties to play.

I was saddened to find out that the MGM Lion Habitat closed on my last visit a month ago. The lions were always lazily lounging about. Maybe they get to roam in a larger habitat now.

Worth a look whilst you are at that end of the strip. Its a bit strange to see lions in the casino at first, but they do add something.

Free exhibit to see lions laze. Great way to see the lions up close and personal...behind protective glass that is.

The excessive crowds and 90% chance that the lions are simply sleeping when you walk by are enough for me to dock it a few stars. However, that doesn't mean it's not a cool feature to have a lion habitat within a big city hotel. What I love is that the lions don't live within this small glass enclosure, gawked at by tourists 24/7. They are owned and cared for by a private handler outside the city, who exhibits them to help educate the public about the majestic feline. As an animal lover, this reassures me! Try to view the lions during feeding time or early in the morning before the swarming crowds.

Those poor lions just sit there all day while tourists gawk at them. I'd actually rather they were out in the wild, but at least they're well taken care of (I think).

This is just something different from other stuff in Vegas - this is literally in the middle of the casino. Since I'm not a big gambler, it was a good way to kill some time and amuse myself while my friends were off doing other stuff in the casino.

The "kitties" were fun to look at. Like many things in Las Vegas, a pleasant distraction for a short while.

Description

Lions and their cubs are on display in this showcase and natural habitat. A little known fact is that the lions actually live off-site and make appearances in the casino for a few hours at a time, on rotation. Part of the proceeds from the gift shop and photo opportunities goes towards lion preservation organizations.
