This is such a fun area to explore in LA. If you love Japanese culture, food, products, or most importantly HELLO KITTY, this is a must-see if you're in the area. The stores are so much fun to check out, lots of Japanese characters clothing and toys, cute female clothing (can get pricey!) and very authentic food. Be careful what you order because it's REALLY authentic and you may be surprised! This is not your average sushi joint! The Japanese pharmacies carry a lot of unique creams and they employees were very helpful. My favorite part Little Tokyo is the Sanrio store that has the best, most recent releases. The best Sanrio store I've been to (and there's been many)!

Just like any other cultured space, this is a place where you have to visit and eat ramen at, its like in any big city, you have a subculture of people living in it and you won't know what's going on inside unless you explore it daily for a year. So many things that happens in this place that I would love to know on a day to day basis. If you don't have the time, then come here just for the food.

An area of downtown Los Angeles along 1st and 2nd streets with Japanese retail shops, restaurants, health and beauty services, and grocery markets. Save on gas and parking and take the Metro Gold Line here. The stop is just one block east of Little Tokyo.

Little Tokyo is a Japanese America district in downtown L.A. Despite its small territory, it got some of the very best Japanese restaurant in L.A. If you crave for Ramen, look no further. Over ten Ramen shops located here. They also got some upscale one mostly is affordable price range. Ramen and Mochi are alone worth to visit here. There is some few landmarks here like the Japanese American National Museum. There is a big Japanese Watchtower located entrance of the plaza.

Parking is a problem here, all the street parking is meter, go there in Sunday it would be free. Only 1 lot I know does validate parking for free that is the lot with Office Depot, Yogurt-land, and Hakata Ramen. There is lack of market and grocery here.

Crime rate is very low here; despite is rather closed to skid row... Little Tokyo often get new restaurant and always something new to eat here. I wish Chinatown also be more innovation, which is clearly nothing more than a tourist trap there, while Little Tokyo is not the case, local love to visit here.

Little Tokyo is a gem in Los Angeles. Find all things Japanese here. There are ramen shops, shabu shabu places, art galleries, souvenir shops, and lots more. I love checking out the bakeries because even though I love sweets, I don't enjoy overdosing on sugar and the baked goods found are less sweet without sacrificing taste. Great place to explore if you've never been. There a number of fantastic restaurants to try if you're in the mood. I just wish I lived closer.

Little Tokyo is a great place to grab a snack or meal and just hang out. Often times, there is a live musician performing in the squares. If you just want a snack you have your choice of mocha ice cream, red bean cakes, takoyaki (octopus balls), and pastries. For meals there are tons of sushi, ramen, and shabu restaurants to choose from. I love how clean Little Tokyo is despite being in downtown LA.

Description:

Located across four blocks and 67 acres Los Angeles' Little Tokyo is the cultural center for Japanese Americans in southern California. The area is a vibrant mix of Japanese and American culture. As you stroll through the streets you will see many traditional Japanese tea gardens, grocery stores and traditional shops. Little Tokyo is one of only four official Japantowns in the United States. Also playing host to a large variety of Japanese festivals and special events throughout the year, including traditional Japanese holidays, it is the perfect place to expand your cultural horizons.
