If anybody ever asks me about where to go in the city I definitely mention Local Edition.
The drinks are decent but I mainly just love the crowd and the ambiance.
It's such a huge space that there is opportunity for people to mingle but also have intimate moments with their group of friends.
The space just allows you to have a feel good vibe.

Yummy cocktails. Giant square ice cubes.
I like that when you come here, you forget what time it is since there are no windows. It's big and cavernous and fun. Can get loud and crowded though.
I like that this place is walking distance from shopping and other fun Union Square activities so you can always stop in for a quick drink before you go back for more shopping.
Yes, another borburn on the rock please!

Love this space located in a basement on Market Street... the only way of finding this place is by the bouncer in the front. Drinks are tasty and thr bartenders are so nice. ask them to create a drink with your favorite spirit and they'll be happy to create one for you.

This is my first time at a speakeasy. This is awesome! It has a historical feel to it and the employees look the part. Very cool. They have really interesting drinks with interesting names too. Definitely coming back again! The Yellow Kid is a lemon drink...creeps up on you :)

Local Edition. I love it. Typewriters, spacious seating, takes reservations (non bottle service kind), and artisan cocktails with names like 'Fidel and Che'. Sold. Also Bloody Mary made with pho broth.. Mind Blown.
Watch your step while you go down the stairs. I almost ate it. Trying to foursquare check-in (zOHMAHGERD, I'm here), while holding my new diy terrarium, and stairwalking, could have been disastrous, but catastrophe was avoided, and I made it to the bar alive. I could be the next poster child for those 'No Texting While Walking Campaigns.' Also Pepito (my terrarium) would have only lived for 1 day.
The only thing I'm not a fan of was the huge mass of people loitering around the bar. Move. There is SO MUCH seating. Just move there. You have your drink. Take a breather guys, the bar isn't moving away. The crowd on late night Saturday, was what you'd expect. Also a little sad, when I hear people order '3 shots of vodka.. chilled please.' You are at a place by the guys of Rickhouse and Bourbon and Branch. Please tell me you know that they are known for their amazing magical concoctions. I imagine I would appreciate a quieter night, and less of the SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS crowd.
Please try the local edition cocktail, and go Don Draper yourself into that chair. You are welcome.
P.S. Have I ever told you how much I love the giant ice cube? Well, I do.

At this point, it feels somewhat pointless to continue to rate this bar group's establishments. We get it; they get it. I suppose it's sort of an awesome complaint to have... Local Edition, like Rickhouse and Tradition and Bourbon & Branch, has it going on in all the right places. Love the ample seating, the delicious cocktails, and the fact that you can make a reservation so you're never caught in a situation where your party can't shove its way to the front of the bar. Also love that it has turned what was previously a storage basement (I'm sure) into a swanky cocktail lounge.

Hands down one of my favorite bars in SF. Not only is it central to the downtown area, but I think this is one of the hidden gems. They have a bodyguard when you walk into the building, and as you wander down the stairway, you can see newspapers hanging on the wall among their booths and tables. If you're coming with a group, I would make a reservation in advance because it does get crowded!

This is one of those bars where the make you wait outside in line to give the appearance that it is more popular than it is. Ok bar - really big inside once you get in. Crowd was not that cool. 20 something yuppie set.

Never have I EVER been to a bar where every single drink on the menu sounded good. Not Bourbon and Branch. Not Rickhouse. Not Mr. Lew's. Not any of the other fantastic bars owned by the minds behind Local Edition.
Yes, every drink sounds superb and, given the sample set of three boozy cocktails that I tried, I can extrapolate that these bartenders are definitely skilled at crafting some of the best drinks in the city.
The "Local Edition" with Eagle Rare Bourbon is a solid starter, though, having just come back from Italy, I opted for the drink with Scotch, Amaro Nonino and Campari. I can't recall what it was called, but it was delicious.
Live music, a large space and great drinks in a space located conveniently in the heart of downtown San Francisco. Dreams do come true.
