THE backpacker party hostel in London. Interior reminds me of a science fiction movie - a bit spaceship-esque!

Another in the Palmer's Lodge line of London hostels, you can't really go wrong if what you're looking for is cheap (in an incredibly expensive city), safe, and clean. This location is a little bit out of the way of your typical tourist, but not too inconvenient (just a few long blocks from the nearest tube). The staff was friendly, ...

this a a cheaper alternative if you are low budget and need a place to stay. Unfortunately you have to share a bathroom. The noise level is ok. It is a basic twin bed and a desk. It is best for short term stay.

Conveniently located near Canary Wharf, do make sure you get the DLR to Blackwall - or you'll be standing somewhere near Canary Wharf station scratching your head wondering how to walk there. Once you have mastered this - you'll be pleased to discover that the DLR is exceedingly close and links you to the relatively nearby O2 and Excel Centre, ...

What a lovely manager! Her and her staff are really welcoming. They are quite new, so the hotel will be improved and a new spangly sign put up. Rooms are clean and bright and tastefully decorated. There isn't much difference in price between a double with an en suite and a tripple where you have to go upstairs to the ...

I would recommend the Royal Bayswater ONLY if you're on a tight budget or looking to save some money to spend on other things in this very expensive city. They cram too many beds in each room, the rooms though not really dirty are below standard, the staff (mostly Eastern European kids my time there) is somewhat rude. This hostel ...

Perfectly decent, nothing to write home about but clean and with everything in place. The 'living room area' really does feel like someone else's living room so not sure it would be somewhere to hang out - breakfast room has a little to be desired but it's alright.

I stayed here overnight for a conference back in 2010 and was not impressed. Despite the fact the windows would not open in my room, there was a lot of road noise, the 'renovations' were inconsequential, and the whole thing had a 'just good enough' feel to it. Expect less, I guess.

Really good hotel in London, just 5 minutes walk from the Underground station (Kensington West, on the District line). Rooms are quite small, but if you are a tourist this is absolutely not a problem. We were there just to sleep or to relax, and beds were comfortable. The owners are nice and friendly, there's always someone ready to help ...

Walking in to the Carlton Hotel was a pleasure; I was greeted by a member of staff who was about to take her break and insisted on helping me before returning to her lunch. This is a cold one man hotel, with an obvious lack of staff. The rooms are neat and the area is painfully quiet. For a hotel in London, it has a quite isolated feel and on a positive note there are pubs and some restaurants nearby. I would recommend this hotel to those that want to be alone and isolated ...

Basic is as basic does, or something. You sort of know what you're gonna get when you walk into a place like this - but it's clean and, um... clean. If you're looking for budget here it is. Well, it's basic. It's possible to find a saving grace for every place - and here the quirk is the retro breakfast dispensing machine in the breakfast room. Hostel standard really but well located and cheap-ish. It's close to Pimlico underground station as well as Victoria coach, train and underground stations. This means you're close to the upmarket bars and ...

Clean, warm. Looks like a typical Notting Hill home in the lobby area. A single room is cheapest - but tiny with a very narrow bed. Doubles and triples are available too, but if you might want a double even if you are on your own. Nobody likes a narrow bed. The breakfast room is open in the morning and ...
