    Renaissance St. Pancras

    13 reviews
Very Good! - 83% of guests recommend

The Renaissance St. Pancras is surely one of London's most elegant hotels. From the facade and sweeping driveway to the opulent interior and very cool hotel bar, this is a must if you're looking for luxury.

    Charlotte Street Hotel

    Charlotte Street Hotel

    20 reviews
Excellent! - 94% of guests recommend

My new favourite spot for a cocktail in Soho, the Charlotte Street Hotel is stylish, low-key, and a great place for anything from an afternoon business meeting to an early aperitivo. Their fig caipiroska is a revelation in alcoholic fruits.

My favorite hostel in London! It's cheap, cosy atmosphere and the staff is great :-) It's also well connected with the sub, you can reach any corner of London through Kings Cross station. Definitely going back here next time!

    Claridges Hotel

    Claridges Hotel

    Class:
    13 reviews

You can't understand London without seeing places like Claridges. The old aristocratic vibe is undiminished here. Ogle (tastefully) the gorgeous art deco design and soak up the atmosphere that has attracted heads of state and Hollywood stars since its opening in 1856. We recommend afternoon tea here, even if you are not a guest.

    The Ampersand Hotel

    The Ampersand Hotel

    4 reviews
Excellent! - 92% of guests recommend

Attentive service and attention to detail throughout the Amspersand Hotel distinguish this boutique property, opened in 2012. Each room type is decorated according to a theme like music or astronomy, and design touches like the TVs in bathrooms make this an inviting place to settle in for a soak and a good night's sleep.

    Mandeville Hotel

    Mandeville Hotel

    Class:
    7 reviews
Very Good! - 82% of guests recommend

Super-soft cotton sheets, a half bottle of wine to welcome you to your room, and decently sized rooms all win the Mandeville bonus points in my book. The lobby is funky and playful yet elegant, and their afternoon tea comes with champagne for the ladies, or whisky for the menfolk. When you throw in its great location behind Oxford Street ...

    The Hempel Hotel

    The Hempel Hotel

    Class:
    4 reviews
Very Good! - 80% of guests recommend

This hotel really hits the nail on the head (for me, anyway) in design. The rooms are big, light and airy, with white sheets, wood floors, and rustic muted green and red touches. I would decorate my house kinda like this. It's small, so the service is personal and attentive, and the vibe is luxury but not stuffy. You do ...

    The Dictionary Hostel, Shoreditch

    The Dictionary Hostel, Shoreditch

    2 reviews
Good! - 76% of guests recommend

Funky and independently run, the Dictionary is a current favorite of ours. The only hostel in Shoreditch, it's also your only real budget option (outside of chains) in London's cool East End. Just because it's the only option doesn't mean it's not great, however. The owners have years of London hostel experience and have used this place to make all ...

    St Martins Lane Hotel

    St Martins Lane Hotel

    Class:
    29 reviews

Hip hotel in Covent Garden, walking distance to Soho, the theater district, the national gallery and Picadilly Circus. Beds are comfortable, but the rooms/desk are too small for a good business hotel, which is what I needed. The hotel aims to be cool, and sometimes it feels like it is trying too hard, with strange art films and techno music ...

    Covent Garden Hotel

    Class:

Excellent! - 93% of guests recommend

This is a very nice hotel on a small street just on the north end of covent garden. The rooms are comfortable and nicely done (although not huge), and they have a great restaurant downstairs with awesome breakfast and dinner and (if the weather is warm) great outdoor seating.

    Grosvenor House Hotel

    Grosvenor House Hotel

    Class:
    15 reviews

What's up, opulence? The JW Marriott Grosvenor House hotel is a well-appointed Mayfair establishment facing Hyde Park itself. A great place to stay as a first-time visitor to London, as you're a short walk from so many sights. Good service, good decor, good beds.

Our guest, Simon Burrell, on One Aldwych: "Besides being an excellent choice as a luxury hotel, near Covent Garden, One Aldwych does ‘Film & Fizz’ night, which costs a very reasonable £42.50 per person. The evening starts off with a welcome glass of Lallier Champagne, a 3-course dinner in the excellent Axis Restaurant and then you are escorted into their ...

Tucked into a Bloomsbury townhouse, the Academy Hotel does the British literary vibe to a tee. Fireplaces and striped wallpaper distinguish the 49 rooms, while the small size means personalized service. This is also a great location for exploring Soho and Bloomsbury.

    The Stafford Hotel

    The Stafford Hotel

    Class:
    6 reviews

The Stafford Hotel is one of our favorites as well as our correspondent's. With a charming courtyard lined with rooms in converted stables (two-part doors intact) and an old wine cellar filled with great vintages and some WW1 artifacts, and attentive, but not obsequious service, the Stafford is a hotel worth returning to again and again.
