    Stay on Main

    Stay on Main

    Hotel Class:
    4
    5 reviews

#BeGone STAY is a quirky little Hotel/Hostel spot. Rumor has it that you can stay here for as little as around $22/night, but private rooms start at about $65. The location might not be ideal, but it's pretty close to the bus lines that can wisp you away to Santa Monica or Beverly Hills with ease. With the money you ...

    Ritz Milner Hotel

    Hotel Class:

Starting with the grand piano in the lobby, this tasteful and traditional place conveys a British atmosphere (or perhaps Scottish, in this case) without an ounce of stuffiness. This historic hotel (since 1924) feels classy, with classic furnishings. Not the Ritz Carlton but it’s authentic, clean and cheery. With free Wifi in rooms, free Bally’s Fitness Center admission and an ...

You might think I was crazy but choosing between Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, I chose the latter. For the price of the poolfront room of the Roosevelt, I just got the biggest suite of Hollywood Celebrity. It was spacious, clean and for that price you can't find a better location. It was a 5 minute walk to ...

I liked the retro feel of this horseshoe-shaped “boutique motel” as soon as I turned into the stone courtyard driveway. Built in the 1940s, most of the structures are the original brick, wood, and cinderblock. The thick walls make the accommodations feel more like private bungalows than attached units. While they are small, the rooms are filled with natural light, ...

    Venice Beach Suites & Hotel

    Hotel Class:

In the heart of the Venice Beach boardwalk this spot is a little too close to where the magic mushrooms happen for my taste. It’s not what I recommend for a family to stay, but for more bohemian folks it is perfect, and central to the Venice excitement. The front entrance gets lost amongst the sunglasses and jewelry that line ...

This is a great little find, as it's cheap, clean and their staff is super friendly. The hotel is very close to Union Station, Chinatown and Downtown so you can see a lot of LA without traveling far. They also offer a complimentary continental breakfast and free wifi. The parking isn't free, but almost at $4 per car!

This cute apartment-style complex, located just north of Hollywood Boulevard, has been around since the 1980s. It’s sort of a hidden gem—many locals don’t even know it exists. There are 40 rooms, with various types ranging from basic juniors (not suites) to executive kings—some of which have patios. The property tends to be very popular with families, who appreciate the ...

    Beverly Laurel Motor Hotel

This hotel has a little more character and charm than your average motor inn. It also has a cool old-school Beverly Hills feeling. Major perk: you're right next door to Swingers, which is open 24 hours and serves delicious shakes and other classic diner menu items.

This hotel has a ton of character and history as it was built in 1929. The building was originally apartment units, but for the 1984 Olympics it was converted into a hotel. There is a gym that overlooks the lobby and a bar that doubles as a breakfast nook in the morning. The only downside is its location-- not the ...

This Best Western with a special Asian flair is located in the heart of Chinatown. The best part of this hotel is the location. You're walking distance from a lot of the cool spots in Echo Park on Sunset and a short drive away from Silverlake and downtown without being in the thick of it. Also, it's pretty easy to hop on the Sunset bus to get around town, too. The rooms are clean, standard, ...

This place has a pretty central location, especially for the touristy stuff, and relatively comfortable rooms though a tad on the small side. The rooms come equipped with a flat screen tv, small refrigerator and iron. There is a tiny pool out in the parking lot which is just enough to cool off on a hot LA day. They do ...

This is a great place to stay if you're on a budget but want to remain central. It's an even better place to stay if you're into theater, as you're walking distance from LA's "Theater Row" aka Santa Monica Blvd. When I was here they were very friendly and accommodating. You get one free parking spot (each additional car is ...

Though this Rodeway is on a busy boulevard, it's sort of tucked away so that you don't really notice. There is a small grassy courtyard with a fountain, which gives a little ambiance to the otherwise standard hotel. The rooms are clean and come with a flat screen TV, plus a refrigerator and microwave in case you have some leftovers. ...

Moderately clean motel compare to all the little motels out here in hollywood. It's also located next a cool dive bar (Whitehorse lounge), which is convenient if you want to grab a drink. The Cecil Hotel definitely has a lot of character when you first walk in giving you the feeling of going back in time to old-school LA. However, this is one of those cases where old-school needs some updating. Their gym was under construction when I visited. The breakfast nook upstairs was okay, but could also use a facelift.
