Los Angeles City Hall

200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA
4.5
4 reviews

Completed in 1928, City Hall's architect used a classical temple as inspiration for a base that supports a 28-story tower that has become a symbol of the city. The interior public spaces are Byzantine in ornamentation. A cynic might suggest that Los Angeles's administrative structure and often, its politics, are equally Byzantine.

Not the easiest city in the world to navigate but colorful with a uniqueness all it's own. Downtown has come into its own with so much to offer. There is the Walt Disney Concert Hall, LA Live, Little Tokyo, Chinatown, Olvera St and Dodger Stadium and those are just the beginning. DTLA has been revitalized and must be seen.

LA's iconic city hall is a must-visit attraction while you're in downtown. The building, featured in many Hollywood movies, offers breathtaking views of the city from its top-level observation deck. It's completely free to visit, but make sure to bring your ID (or passport) with you, because it's required at the security checkpoint.

An awesome jazz venue in Los Angeles, one of the very few. Good food, good bartenders, and awesome acts that come in, It's a really cool place to go and enjoy music at it's best - when it's live and performed right in front of you.

Soooo much fun and 10x better once they moved to Las Vegas. I've been to Ultra Music Festival in Miami and this beats it by at least 2x! The line-up, the people, and the sheer massive scale is something to brag home about (or at least, to Gogobot about!) :)

The Los Angeles Zoo has gotten better over the years. It used to be considered the poor cousin the San Diego Zoo. They have expanded and modernized the exhibits. The new gorilla exhibit is first rate as well as the badly needed elephant additions. Lots of hills for walking. Also the parking is free.

I've been to this shop before to windowshop but haven't bought anything recently until the most recent art exhibition show they had with japanese artist KONATSUYA. She designed a cat kaiju toy that won awards and the show focused around other artists contributing their designs onto the blank cat toy. Amazing! Gorgeous tree that's lit up at night time :) plenty of parking, not hard to find. Wish I had a nicer phone camera to take a better picture of it. The art installation is free to look at, they have a meter where you could donate money (for electricity). Here's his history vimeo.com/69527636 Heard someone proposed under the tree. How ...

Apolis Activism was founded by 3 brothers whose goal was to create a fashion brand that bridged commerce and sustainable development. In fact the word Apolis means "global citizen". I first read about them in Monocle Magazine as part of their partnership between their Uganda's Invisible Children initiative and Filson. Apolis Activism redesigned the Filson Model 256 bag to create ...

This store definitely has the flavor of the typical Tokyo bookstore (BIG Tokyo) with it's rich mix of writing instruments and papers and, yes, odd little erasers, a lengthy design and culture section, great magazines, and, of course, a deep anime section. Most art books are in English where magazines and fiction tend to be in Japanese. I usually walk ...
