This is a MUST visit for dinner in Barcelona. You walk into a small but very authentic and almost always 'happening' bar area with jamon hanging all around and totally legit atmosphere of an authentic bodega. Then, at the end of the bar, you see the entrance to the kitchen which you must walk through to get the main restaurant. There you'll see the awesome food being prepared which is geared toward outstanding array of grilled meats (suckling pig, kid goat, baby lamb, etc) as well as seafood mainstays like grilled squid, octopus, fish. Overall it's an outstanding experience both from a food and service perspective. Try to eat here every time a visit Barcelona.Recommended for:

A restaurant in the gothic quarter that is the real meaning of a "hidden gem". From first glance, it seems like a small average bar, but walk a little further and you'll find the host waiting to wind you through the back part of the restaurant to one of it's many unique and intimate dining rooms. The is a moderately upscale dining experience and the staff really deliver, from the attentive service to the delicious menu. Try the snails, fish soup, mussels, half-chicken or lamb dinner. Incredibly good!Recommended for:

Just the entourage and the surprise alone would do it but the food is very good as well. Kind of hidden on the corner of a small street you will find a stove where chicken is grilled on the street. At first you go in and it seems like just a bar. But the waiter in the back will ask you to come further to the back where you will walk through the classical kitchen to have a seat at the home dining room like restaurant. Pictures of celebrity visitors on the wall and home like setting give it a very special atmosphere.

The restaurant, located at the heart of the Gothic District, looks tiny from the outside. To enter the main dining room, you actually go through the kitchen (hot!), and find yourself in the middle of a maze of rooms and stairs. The place looks really old (including the servers, who are all old school bow-tie Spanish waiters), but the food is delicious, especially the seafood dishes. The roasted chicken (which are prepared inside a window that can be seen from the street) is a good option for those who don´t care for sea creatures.
