Lyon may just be the best place to eat in France. Long regarded as the gastronomic capital of the country (dare I say the world?), there really is no bad place to eat here. Especially if you're a fan of pork, as there is pig fat in almost everything.
Aside from the food, Lyon is a gorgeous, red-roofed city - one of my favorite stops during a week long trip through France. Lush parks, a fascinating textile quarter, and beautiful cultural attractions will keep you here for more than a few days.Recommended for

Nice and clean city, eventhough there aren´t any really enchanted places to visit. I was surprised by incredibly clean river flowing through the city and by friendly, mostly white, inhabitants.Recommended for

Lyon is a spectacular city with plenty of city-wide activities constantly happening. It is the city of lights and great food. Lyon often gets overlooked, try a visit, it's a lovely city with big character.

A smaller version of Paris with less attitude. Easy to get around and the market on Sunday was worth a visit. Known as the gastronomic capital of the world due to it's great chiefs, you can the locals in the more casual atmosphere of a bouchon.

We've decided that there are no bad restaurants in Lyon...they wouldn't be allowed to be opened for business if they were bad. What a wonderful time eating, eating, and eating in Lyon...oh and wine drinking too.

Lyon is by far one of the most beautiful and lively cities I've ever visited. There is a lot to do here so it's safe to say that it caters to almost anyone and everyone -- à chacun son tour. From the parc/zoo to the old district to all of the artsy shops and boutiques, Lyon has so much to offer! Whether you are there for Winter or for Spring, there's something grand to do and if it's the Fête des Lumières, you are sure in luck. Consider Lyon during the winter and you are in for a city-wide, free quasi Disneyland!

After meandering the the streets of Paris, Lyon stands out in two main ways. 1. Small. 2. Friendly. - both in the most refreshing sort of way. Lyon may not have the artistic importance and historical noteworthiness of its big sister city, but it provides endless character and charm. While not a small French village, the "Frenchness" eminates in the cobblestones of the history filled streets. A strong pride in itself and extensive gastronomical options make Lyon a fantastic stop off the beaten path.
