When you mention Madaba, what comes to mind are Mosaics, You find them everywhere, in churches, in walls, decors, furnitures, faberge eggs all made of Mosaics

This town is really quaint and charming. We had originally planned on staying in Aman, but when we arrived here, the hospitality that we received was great. We decided to take some day trips to Aman and the Dead Sea. Madaba is a great base for exploring other areas, and it's a nice break from hectic Aman.

I cannot say that I liked this town... Maybe because it was our first and last stop during the Jordan trip and we were in a hurry. Objectively, there are a lot of things to see in the town - mosaics, ruins, Christian church, Mt. Nebo.
Subjectively, Madaba is an excellent location for starting and finishing a trip in Jordan :) It is 30km away from the Amman international airport, so my advice is to hire a car at the airport, drive to Madaba, have an overnight and continue to Wadi Rum, Petra, Karak, or Dead Sea.
