Madison is a strange town. It gets a lot of buzz and attracts interesting people, but it has so little to offer. I'm constantly disappointed in what it considers "best" and "good". I don't mind that so much as pity the people who let the town have such low standards.

With 5 surrounding lakes and The University of Wisconsin-Madison, there is something going on year-round in this college town. Plenty of bike paths and activities to keep you entertained.

Even in the cold winter, when the lakes freeze over and your nose turns red with your cheeks from cold, Madison is lovely. It's liberal, young, full of intellectuals, with cool shops, and a great vibe. Eat cheese, chocolate, and dairy products, they are the freshest you'll find. Hang out at record store, diner, or book shop, eat campus food, check out a gallery, or two, or three, they have many. This Wisconsin capitol offers it all and is a priority for any route in the United States.
