Room Mate Óscar is a great spot for a few drinks at night in Madrid. During the summer they've got a fantastic rooftop terrace with views over the city. They've got a huge selection of national and imported spirits and the staff are really friendly. It's in a great spot for LGBT visitors too as it's in the gay district, ...

Good! - 76% of guests recommend

This has changed so much in the last 10 years since I last visited and I absolutely love the atmosphere here. The small bars and quaint clubs really give the gay scene character and the people tend to be incredibly friendly. The food market is a great way to spend the afternoon.

I loved being here back in 2007. I got upgraded to a junior suite and had an 10th century wooden buddha in my room. The room was a loft and was very comfortable and modern. The roof-top pool was great to escape the summer heat. The hotel was located in a very convenient location. I couldn't recommend it more!

The ME might not be the best option for lodging (from what I've seen, the rooms are small with trendy, modern decor - you are probably paying mostly for the location), however I do suggest that you visit the rooftop terraza for drinks at night. It has spectacular views of the city. Definitely worth visiting! (Be prepared to be an ...

We really enjoyed out stay here - its quite a classic hotel. Since its near many embassies you get the feel a lot of political dignitaries have frequented these halls. This hotel is a dream for anyone who loves architecture and design. Starting from the outer shell designed by Jean Nouvel, through it's 13th floors, each designed a by a different architecture or designer: Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster, Ron Arad and others. I've stayed on the tenth floor of a Japanese designer Arata Isozaki. It was a wonderful room: Japanese ...

If the epitome of luxury and creme de la creme is how you prefer to travel, this hotel is for you. Walking in the big ancient doors I was blown away. This place nails the balance between old world sanctuary and a modern sense of space and light. The bellboy said they’d recently done up the lobby. It’s a gorgeous atrium with far-up skylights - a perfect spot to sip a glass of Spanish red and graze on a few plates ...

Hotel Liabeny is in an ideal location for shoppers, just a few minutes’ walk from Puerta del Sol. Stepping from the old narrow Madrid street into the low light, funky fixtures and jazzy beats of the Room Mate Mario lobby was an unexpected transition. My first thought (especially given the hotel’s name) was: pretentious. Oh how wrong I was. The decor may be modern and hip, but there’s nothing affected about the service. The young staff were friendly, ...

I’d read this place was probably the best situated hotel in Madrid, but man, when I arrived, that was an understatement. Though not literally in Puerta del Sol, it might as well be. It’s pretty much five minutes (or less) from anywhere you want to go. Such a central location means space is at a premium - you have to ...

There was just a great feel about this place from the moment I walked in. The lobby is an eclectic combo of classic wood and old stone walls. And the woman behind the desk was straight away generous and helpful. But the hotel’s trump card is its location. Unless they build a hotel IN the Plaza Mayor (god forbid), then ...

You just can’t get much more central than this. And that’s all the reason you need to book a room at Cortezo. The hotel is clean, modern and comfortable, but it’s the price-to-location ratio where it takes the cake. Puerta del Sol is two minutes by foot, the museums are brief walk away and Lavapiés (a fantastic barrio to explore ...
