I have been to Madrid twice, and each time was a very interesting and unique experience. Historically, Madrid was founded in 1561 when King Philip II moved the Royal Court from Toledo to Madrid. However, it was the Bourbons starting in the early 18th century that began the transformation of Madrid with the addition of the Palacio Real (Royal Palace) by Philip V. And Charles III became a sort of Mayor of Madrid, remaking Madrid in the splendor of many of the other European Courts at that time.Recommended for:

Столица Испании. Must see! Для ознакомления с городом очень удобен двухдневный автобусный тур. Билет действителен в течение 2 дней, и предоставляет скидки на входные билеты во многие музеи города.

I was an exchange student for three (3) months, and it was a very enjoyable experience. The host family was great and I only slipped up twice, speaking English (that was a no-no!) What I enjoyed the most was the running of the bulls; not for the faint hearted. If you go, stay with a group, especially at night, and DO try the Sangria. There is no other place in the world to get it! I was a Senior in High School and yeah, below the allowable drinking age, but that didn't stop the host family from allowing me to truly experiencing all of the Spanish cultures, including Paella and a "bit" of Sangria. I had the opportunity to cook some American faire, and that was enjoyed tremendously by the host family, who I still keep in tough with! I lov to cook and making dinners that they knew nothing about was great.
