I never really looked at Madrid as a European "must".
It is not to be missed!
Immaculate, historical, great food and an even better nightlife.
I highly recommend!

Madrid was my favorite city in Spain. It combines the best nightlife I've seen in Europe with absolutely incredible cultural exhibits. Night clubs, Picasso and really good cheese.

Pull a mixing bowl out of the cabinet and add beautiful architecture and sculptures, alluring parks that are like a endless abyss of tranquility, shopping for everyone from Skylar Grey to Bérénice Marlohe, addicting tapas and tinto del veranos, and a innovative subway system. Mix them all together and you have the wonderful blissful city of Madrid. Truly like no other city, Madrid is the sanctuary of stress relief: parks of good relaxation, plazas for good socialization, and food and drinks to make you smile in between taking bites and talking.

This city is super cosmopolitan, with easy peasy public transport. Definitely try to see some flamenco while you are there. The Prado is a world class art museum, not to be missed.
