A stay at this hotel will grant your family much-coveted tickets to the Magic Castle, which is not normally open to tourists. Kids can only attend weekend brunch, but the event is a fantastic show of magic, performances and great food. The youngest members of the family will also love other hotel amenities, including popsicles by the 24-hour pool.Recommended for:

The Magic Castle Hotel is actually just a nice and normal (not magic related) hotel that is attached to the attraction known as the Magic Castle. If you are not a member of the Magic Castle, you cannot attend their performances, unless you are staying here. Definitely worth a visit to the hotel and attraction in one visit. The free snacks at the front desk are a nice touch, and the pool is small but refreshing on a hot day. The rooms are comfortable.

From the outside, the Magic Castle looks like the converted 1950s apartment building that it is, in much the presentable but unassuming way that you wouldn’t expect Clark Kent and Superman to be one and the same. Not only are the rooms large and stylishly decorated (in a mod 60s sort of way), the service is topnotch. It’s as though they took a page out of restaurateur Danny Meyer’s book on “enlightened hospitality.” They go out of their way to exceed expectations.
Most of the rooms are big one-bedroom suites, with full kitchens, living rooms and dining rooms. Perks include a free Continental breakfast with pastries from local favorite Susina Bakery. Underground parking is only $11 per night. WiFi is free throughout. Best of all, hotel guests have access to the adjacent Magic Castle itself, where some of the country’s best magicians perform (normally you have to know a member to get in).

This place really is magic! It’s a few blocks off the tourist strip and has a feel of old Hollywood history. I loved the quiet rooms, which I think are old converted apartments--they feel Hollywood Hills glamorous with their own personality and mod décor, lofty beds, and big windows overlooking the pool. The kitchenettes are convenient. The best part of the hotel is that it’s part of Magic Castle which is normally closed to the public who can’t get in unless they know a member. But hotel guests are given access to the dinner and magic shows at the Castle, which is an incredible Hollywood experience. I think it’s worth staying here just to go to the show (my kids loved the magic) but it’s also convenient for other attractions like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Mann’s Chinese Theater and the amazing view at Yamashiro restaurant up the hill.Recommended for:
