Dear cupcakes, please be mine! I've been lusting over you for a long time and I just have to have you! Joke aside, if you haven't tasted a Magnolia cupcake, your NYC visit doesn't count, period. Battle the crowds and the ever increasing lines, to see what Carrie and Miranda were raving about in Sex and the City!

In all fairness they are very good...but not my favorites...so their lines on Bleecker Street are not worth the wait. More importantly they have multiple locations now including one in Grand Central station

They are famous for their cupcakes but my favorite is their banana pudding and cheesecakes. Avoid going on weekends or between 5-8 on weekdays. The line gets very long. If you can only go on the weekend get their early when they open to have the best selection options with no wait

I had a red velvet cake from here and boy was it memorable. I still haven't forgotten that rich but not too sweet taste of the red velvet. I would recommend others to try it if they go to this bakery. I went to the Magnolia in Grand Central and they still had some good selection despite it was a smaller than the location downtown.

I don't understand why people line up for this place. I've been twice because out of town guests wanted to go. Both times there was a line. Both times the cupcakes were DRY. Did I really wait that long and pay that much for a cupcake? I also had the banana pudding nilla wafer thing. It was ok. Better than the cupcake. What does everyone see in this?? i don't get it.

I had a couple of cupcakes during my first visit. They were rich in flavor and foamy in texture. Although they were likely the best cupcakes I've had so far, I was still a bit underwhelmed because of my high expectation. I'll recommend it to friends - but I can't justify waiting in line for this.
