Holy crap! What is this?! LA?! First thing that stopped me from even reaching the bar would be the sticky floor. I HATE that feeling... It's great that they don't have covers nor do they have a dress code, but dude, clean up the floor!
There is no possible way to talk because the music was super loud. I was able to hear the music from miles away and I was walking from downstairs to up. Good luck coming here when you're sober because you are going to need a few drinks before you get into the crowd.Recommended for:

Like your best friend's living room, this top-level bar at the Ala Moana Center mall is the place for pau hana (happy hour) drinks and pupu, plus live music and an all-ages crowd. If you're a football fan, it's also the place to gather and cheer on your fave NFL team.Recommended for:

As most of my friends are now in California and my parents don't really "happy hour," it took me a long time to finally make it to Mai Tai Bar. I've always loved it, as its addition to Ala Moana Center has filled the place with the sound of live music, sports fans and happy revelers. The atmosphere is chill, the food is tasty and the drinks are well-made. The happy hour deals are also quite good. There's also free wireless Internet!
I love this little social hub in Ala Moana and I'll return as often as I can!Recommended for:

Mai Bar is an awesome spot! It's a casual spot...nothing fancy, nothing fake...just down-to-earth, great vibes all around. It helped that there was an awesome live reggae band...everyone was into it.Recommended for:

This is my usual happy hour spot while shopping at Ala Moana. I like the discounted mai tais, calamari and onion rings from the happy hour menu. A rager at night, but chill during the afternoon. Great live music.Recommended for:

Very local bar, I like the open air seating. There's plenty of tv's and seats. It does get packed in the evenings, special sports events, and weekends. It's a very lively place and often have live local music and contests. Very fun but does get super crazy.

New Years Day open? - Yes
Happy Hour, Cheap beer? - Yes
Taco Tuesday, $1 Tacos? - Yes
Perfect way to end a big shopping day? - Most definitely priceless.
The tacos are smaller than D&B's tacos but much more 'authentic' and flavorful. Would choose these bad boys over D&B's taco Tuesday any day.
Was also a touch cold since it was raining, but the cheap beer helped keep us warm (yes I know, scientifically, being drunk makes you lose heat faster).
