There's nothing too special about the Majestic Hotel. It's in an odd location, a block off Lake Shore Drive and kind of far from most attractions. The building and the furniture are old, the rooms are clean but lack any kind of special touches. They just redid the lobby, though, and there's a really nice sitting area with complimentary coffee.
Ultimately, there's nothing *wrong* with this hotel, but there's also nothing that makes it stand out from the hundreds of others you could choose from when staying in Chicago. But if you want to stay away from the action, this quiet street would be a good choice.Recommended for:Budget Travelers

Located on a residential stretch of East Lakeview, the Majestic Hotel is perfect for those who like to avoid big crowds and honking cars. It’s an old-school spot, and I think it’s got charm for miles. While hanging out in the downstairs lounge, I almost felt like I was about to have tea time at some Englishman’s fancy estate.
The immediate neighborhood doesn’t offer tons of dining and drinking options, but I think that’s why people would want to stay here. There’s still plenty of stuff to check out within walking distance or a short cab ride. Just on the other side of Lake Shore Drive, visitors can take advantage of tennis courts, a golf course, and the ever-popular Belmont Harbour dog beach.

Everything about the Majestic Hotel screams old school charm, whisking me off of the streets of Chicago to a luxe and quaint estate in the countryside of England.
But really, you're still in Chicago's East Lakeview neighborhood, off in the quiet residential area near the lake. Don't worry, there are still a number of restaurants and shops nearby, you'll just have to go a bit off the path to get there. The front desk provides an extensive list of things to do in the neighborhood, so you'll be set. The staff is also incredibly friendly and will make suggestions if you're still feeling stuck.
