You'd never expect such gourmet food from this hidden seaside dive (well, from the outside, but inside it's surprisingly glam), but it's hands-down one of the best dinners I've ever had on the island. In fact, I'd rather come back here than go back to the more famous Mama's Fish House in Paia. Mala's menu is creative, and the drinks strong. What more do you need? Be sure to make reservations in advance, or be prepared to wait. It's worth it, though, since it's way better value than more touristy restaurants on Front St downtown.Recommended for:

A small oceanfront cozy restaurant space on the water near Mala Wharf and has created a sophisticated, light-filled restaurant/bar. A menu statement explains the concept: small plates, organic whenever possible, whole grains, no preservatives, no hydrogenated oils and everything in proportion.

The setting alone would recommend this place. You can sit along the waterfront and watch sea turtles until the sun goes down. But – added bonus - the food is amazing. There are so many things to try; you might need to head to West Maui more than once! The ahi tuna appetizer is a standout – for entrees, try the Balinese stir-fry with fresh island fish or the hoisin-glazed ribs.

Little off the beaten path on the north end of Front street (Behind the Safeway). Unassuming on the outside kinda nicely retro diner-esque on the inside with a really nice outdoor patio right on the water. We stopped for brunch which was delicious. Dinner is sort of tapas/mediterannian themed adn looked really interesting but we ran out of time. Staff was really nice and prices were reasonable.

**OMG BEST MAUI MEAL EVER. LIKE EVER.**
Super nice greeters, hostesses, and waiters.
We sat outside the lanai and it was very romantic; even with the heavy storm.
Our waiter, Jeremiah, was helpful and attentive. Cool dude. His recommendations made our eating experience memorable and satisfying on Maui.
MUST MUST ORDERS TO SHARE (for the full 5 star):
*OYSTER SHOOTER ($4 each) - The best. Super duper fresh. Sauce and juice were amazing. Best Oyster Shooter I've had.
*AHI TARTARE ($17) - Generous portion and again, super fresh. The herbs and subtle spices made this dish memorable.
*BRUSSEL SPROUTS ($9) - Best fried brussel sprouts in the world. OMG good. Texture, organic freshness, and wonderful flavors.
*SEAFOOD PASTA ($45) - Best seafood pasta we've had in our lives. The fresh seafood was HARD TO BEAT. Quality of the crab meat, mussels, and fish were evident and unsurpassed.
We didn't order cocktails except some Arnold Palmers ($5 each) which had fresh guava juice. Also amazing.
Our dinner without drinks and tip came out to be $103 (note we shared all plates tapas-style).
Man oh man, what a fantastic meal.
HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
