    Zuma Beach

This is a gorgeous stretch of the California coastline in Malibu. I highly recommend making the drive out here from LA if you have the chance as the scenery and food options nearby make it well worth the visit.

    Point Dume State Beach

    Malibu, CA

    21 reviews

This is the most gorgeous place I have ever been to in my life. I'm serious, the point took my breath away when we reached the cliffs. Point Dume is located on a far back road in Malibu, CA next to million dollar homes and steep cliffs plunging into the Pacific ocean. We parked on the side of the road, ...

I have been coming here for years and am amazed at the increasing popularity. From an off the beaten path "best kept secret" to the top of every LA couple's/ bachelorette's/ tourist's list. Yet it somehow manages to maintain its charm and folksy feel. Check the live music schedule and pack a picnic.

    El Matador State Beach

California has many hidden gems and this is ONE of them. This beach is unlike the others of the area. It's small but offers a very romantic setting--ideal place for engagement shots! Let me tell you, the rock formations, dramatic cliffs, changing tides, etc. really makes this beach unique. Try finding parking on the side (watch for signs), or simply ...

    Solstice Canyon

3998 Solstice Canyon Rd, Malibu, California
    4.5
    8 reviews

I loved this hike as a beginner hiker, beautiful scenery, manageable altitude and distance (a total of three to four miles round trip). Easy access to restrooms and in the middle you can see the old Roberts mansion and a beautiful small waterfall. Bring food and snacks as there isn't really a visitors center.

Academically Pepperdine is not among the elite universities but in the Greater Los Angeles area it is tough to always be compared with the California Institute of Technology, USC, UCLA, Occidental and the Claremont Colleges. On the other hand, none of those schools have a scenic location comparable to Pepperdine's. The view from their library is amazing. I don't see ...

    Escondido Canyon and Falls

This hike is terrible. The parking lot is 1.5 miles from the trail head and it only has about 10 spaces! The only other place to park is also very limited on PCH which is a death trap. Someone gets killed once a month on PCH whether it is a cyclist or a pedestrian. After you've found parking which is ...

This is the beach spot I always take my out of town guests to visit. It works at any time of the year, because it is not just a huge swath of sand, and the walk around the ponds to the ocean is nice. It's also close to food -- Malibu Frozen Yogurt is good, and the Ralph's supermarket has ...

*camping review* Far from real wilderness camping, *ahem, you're in Malibu* but really one of my favorite places to pitch a tent and eat. You are 1 minute walking distance away from the breathtaking state beach/cove. Convent facilities - Bathroom stalls for families or single - Coin-operated showers - A CONVENIENCE STORE with all your camping needs. And surprisingly, the ...

Here's why I like this place: 1.The staff is so incredibly helpful and friendly, that even if the wines weren't good, I'd probably still go back just for the atmosphere and the service. (Luckily, the wines were really nice. A standout was the Chardonnay.) 2. On the weekends, they have food trucks and music. Their great lawn in back is ...

Instead of turning left at Westward Beach Road to enter Malibu's Zuma Beach, turn right at Bonsall Drive and go to the end of the road. The Zuma Canyon trailhead begins there giving you the option of several scenic trails, one of which also takes you to a nice but not spectacular view of the ocean.

After driving up and down PCH, past the hordes crowding the beaches from Torrance up to Malibu, finding this hidden gem was a treat. Good (free) street parking, easy beach access, and no crowds! A surf able wave comes in as well. No facilities, but it's the perfect spot for a quiet getaway day in Malibu.
