Maui's north shore has myriad options for good food and great scenery, but Mama's Fish House might be the best destination for both. For almost forty years, this beach house turned restaurant has offered visitors a scenic paradise to enjoy any special occasion. A coconut grove shades an open-aired deck overlooking a private, white sand beach and friendly servers deliver traditional Hawaiian and Polynesian fare, like wasabi crusted calamari and Ahi tuna caught only ten miles offshore.

Practically perfect for honeymooners, this deluxe Polynesian beach-hut themed restaurant is gorgeous at sunset. Set on its own cove, here the daily-changing menu actually tells you who caught your fish and where it was caught just that morning. Cocktails are strong, and the appetizer of seafood poke served in a fresh half coconut was the high point of the meal. The rest? Extremely expensive and small portions. Folks, what you're paying for here is the ambience, with tiki torches and the sernading surf.

If you like seafood, then this place is heaven. They can name the fisherman (and they are all men from the menu I saw) who caught the fish, where it was caught. Talk about being good for the environment and for your health. The place is gorgeous, the service impeccable, and the ambiance so soothing. Even when our toddler got restless, I just took her outside to play in the front that leads out to the sea as my husband finished dinner (them are the breaks when you're parents to a munchkin!). But it was still a wonderful experience.

Imagine sitting on the beach with the sun on your shoulders, the ocean breeze at your back, and a plate of tender ahi tuna poke presented before you. At Mama’s Fish House—an open-air restaurant in the coconut grove of a secluded beach—this fantasy is known as lunch. Fresh local catch is offered year-round at the converted beach house, which pays homage to old Polynesia with the décor and menu items like lobster-and-crab-stuffed mahimahi baked in a macadamia crust. It’s been a mainstay of the island of Maui since 1973.Recommended for

Our favorite restaurant in the world. The ambiance is wonderful, the food is fantastic, and the view is THE BEST. How good is it? Oprah is a regular when she's in town. We recommend requesting a window view, and book right before sunset. You will have a view you will never forget! Reservations are a must for a view table, and are best made WELL in advance. A warning, though: Bring your checkbook, it is expensive!

Mama's fish house, located between Paia and Ho'okipa, is arguably Maui's best restaurant. Diners can watch the sunset through the tiki torches over Mama's private beach from its open air dining room. The menu is mostly seafood, prepared island style by some of Maui's top chefs. Its an expensive night out, but very romantic and worth the price of admission.

Stunning decor, views, food, everything about Mama's rocks (except maybe the price). Classic old school Hawaii vibe and fresh fish caught by local fisherman daily. Watch out for the Mai Tai's though. They are the best but one will completely rock your world.

beautiful, old tiki feel, situated right next to the beach, open air restaurant. the service was great and the food was delicious, detailed in presentation, flavors were bold and just right. prices are on the high side, but it's a definite must-eat place if you are enjoying your vacation on Maui.
