The hotel has an ideal location in San Diego no matter your trip reason. The waterfront and bay view, Embarcadero, Gaslamp, the Convention Center and downtown itself only a few steps away. Give yourself a few more hours of sleeping and enjoy a classical breakfast in your room. Prices are not low, but the quality of room services are a plus Hyatt in SD. You should also give a try on their NY style cheesecake with strawberries!

This Hotel has a great location in San Diego. It's at the edge of the water where the Naval Carriers rest, the Seaport Village shopping is right out the back door, it is next to the San DIego Convention Center, and the lively Gas Lamp Quarter is a block away.
The hotel has 2 separate towers, both about 33 stories with 750+ rooms, separated by the regal main lobby, with its large horizontal atrium and marbled floors, more reminiscent of a European Cathedral than an American hotel.
There is a large ballroom directly behind the check in desks for events. The check-in staff are mostly young, and many in my groups reservations were mixed up a bit. Each time there was a request to change the bookings, the staff would have to go to a back office, almost like a car dealership, to work it out before re-emerging with an answer.
At the base of each tower are separate amenities, like restaurants, bars, seating areas. One lounge has a pool table.
The rooms are average for hotels in this category, although there are no luxury type items, like bathrobes in the room. They are average in size, too.
This hotel was built on old Naval property by the Manchester Financial Group, getting $230 million in funding back in 2001 to anchor the San Diego Convention Center complex, with the Marriott Hotel on the other side. Papa Doug Manchester is the head of the Financial and Development Group.
The hotel has had international dignitaries stay here, and their are photos depicting this on the walls. The hotel was hit hard by the current recession, but they dropped their rates and aggressively booked sweetheart deals for convention groups. This hotel is easily over $200 a night, although I got a group convention rate of $189.

This location of this hotel is unbeatable.
It is in Downtown and attached to Seaport Village.
If you are traveling with a family you should know that it is not a big resort hotel in fact it caters to a largely business and convention crowd.
The rooms are large but are not as modern as some other Hyatt's
The Sunday Brunch is a must if you are staying over a weekend.
It is served outdoors on the back terrace facing the bay and is lovely.
Also there is a rooftop bar that everyone flocks to at sunset for great cocktails and stunning views.
Just go early because it fills up fast!Recommended for:

I just drooled every minute I spent here. The beds are huge and soft, and swallow-you-up comfortable, which was a huge perk for me. And the hotel itself is huge, it's spacious, it's luxurious and yet tasteful, it's conveniently located, it's easily accessible...and the views are to die for. Especially in my room, on the 27th floor with a panoramic window, I could see everything from the distant San Diego mountains behind the city to the edges of Point Loma on the opposite side. Look straight down into Seaport Village, then ride the elevator (beware: it moves fast and always plugged my ears) down, step out the back door -- and you're already in the village, without taking another step. Or exit the grand front entrance and look all around you to choose from the Convention Center (a pleasant stroll away beneath palm trees), the Gaslamp Quarter, Horton Plaza, and a myriad of other choices. Bottom line: if you can get a deal, don't even second guess yourself - this is one fabulous hotel from all angles.Recommended for:

I spent a weekend with some girlfriends here and it was great. Beautiful rooms and great location. The best part was the cocktail lounge upstairs - I don't know if there is a better place in San Diego to watch the sunset.Recommended for:

I've not stayed in the hotel, as I'm a San Diegan, so can't comment on that aspect. What I can say is that the "Top of the Hyatt" bar (on the top floor) is one of the best places to hang out and watch the sunset over Pt. Loma and Coronado. Really can't beat it on a nice day (which are plentiful in SD).

This hotel is huge and is right along the water. It is a short walk to the USS Midway, Horton Plaza, and to the Gaslamp District. The hotel itself has two pools (one warmer adult pool, and one larger family pool) . It is one of the favorite hotels for meetings & conventions.
They have a bar called Top of the Hyatt, that is 40 stories up overlooking the harbor. The rooms arev ery cookie cutter and do not have a personality at all. They do have an empty fridge for you to store your own food and drinks. The rooms are in the $200+ range.
