A pure walking town: you can spend a mere couple of hours here as a visitor, and be happy. Stroll along the main drag and pop into the many cafes, pubs, and shops, then culminate at the sprawling beach for a game of volleyball or footy with the locals. You can also attempt the long coastal hike that promises stunning views, or simply head back on the Manly Ferry (famous in its own right) for front-row views of the harbor back to Sydney.

Manly, my home of choice at the moment. An awesome place to live or to spend some time. But be aware, it is an rather exclusive suburb from Sydney, and therefor quite expensive. But the big drawcard is that you have several beaches to choose from, surf at your doorstep, good snorkel and diving. Depending on the season there are quite a lot of tourists in Manly, especially in Dec/Jan. But there are always less known beaches to hide.
Make sure you walk to Shelly Beach to relax or peek over the cliffs at the carpark at the top. If it is too windy from the shore, go to the harbourside. Little Manly is small and less crowded, Collins Flat feels almost like you are out-of-town. Good places to enjoy the sunset, too.
