I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Marea. When you have a Michelin star and charge these prices though, everything should be nearly perfect, and Le Bernardin this is not. The pastas were excellent; the fish was overlooked and the service is uneven. Overall, a lovely evening on Central Park South.Recommended for:

Marea is a prime example of NYC's fine dining scene with its elegant ambiance, button up service and high quality food. The service always goes off without a hitch and each course is meticulously prepared without being overworked.
Marea serves as an excellent choice for business, luxury and foodie travelers that want to entertain clients or enjoy the fellow company of their teammates. You must order the bone marrow pasta as it is one of the best dishes on the menu.Recommended for:

When Alto, one of my favorite NY restaurants, went out of business, the silver lining was that I learned the former owner had opened this fabulous new restaurant on central park south. At first, I was stumped by the sheer size and scope of the menu, but our server's concise explanation of how best to order made the selection process far less daunting and he steered us towards surprising and exciting dishes, that were truly unlike anything I have eaten elsewhere. For the less adventurous eaters, there are plenty of safe options, like perfectly prepared simple grilled fish. The fish can be neatly prepared for you in the kitchen, but the slightly more savage diner will be delighted to find that fish can also be served on the bone, complete with the head. The incredibly inventive combinations of flavors one discovers in most of the dishes at Marea, make the experience of eating here a truly extraordinary one. Even the most jaded of diners will be blown away by the exceptional food and even though the decor is not my favorite thing about this restaurant, the clubby atmosphere is the perfect environment in which to enjoy Marea'a outstanding food. N.b The wine list is ambitious and quite impressive and those who take their wine seriously will be delighted by the carefully curated selection and well-chosen, hard-to-find bottles (at a range of price points).

This is one of the hot new restaurants in New York - run by the same guys who own Alto and Convivo. It is very expensive, so don't go unless you are looking to lighten your wallet. But the food is amazing. Italian fresh seafood with homemade pastas. Had a pasta with clams, calamari and red chilies - it was amazing!
