    Djemaa el Fna

This spectacular square is the heart of the Medina and it beats loudly and with intensity. Tourists are certainly everywhere but the locals prevail and this spot delivers on being magical. Eat, drink and people watch. If you don't like snakes, avoid the music.

I just got back from a magical trek around the high atlas mountains. We were lucky to get a wonderful local guide arranged everything for us , and who kept us motivated, informed and safe. The experience left me craving more. The scenery is magnificent and the people are charming. I definitely encourage anyone in reasonably good physical condition to ...

    Medina of Marrakesh

It feels like going into a labyrinth - you can get in but can't get out. Make sure you have a local guide. It's exciting to explore those small alleys in between old buildings! The shopping can be equally crazy - just make sure you have enough space in your luggage

    Souks

Simply another world. You may walk around forever, but you are never that far from where you started. I prefer going where no tourists are...and that is easy to do in a Souk.

Though closed to visitors, this tall minaret is a beautiful landmark and welcome fixed point of reference for navigating the city. You can't miss it. Brilliantly lit at night.

The garden is not that big. However, it's a nice break from the crowded streets of the medina. Great to stroll around for a couple of hours in the morning or afternoon.

Lovely former palace with intricate wood and stone carvings. One of the major tourist sights. Cheap to enter and only take 15-20 min to see.

A nice walk to take when in need of a break from the organized chaos of the medina! I was constantly in awe and wondering how its the remparts have managed to stay intact for so long!

    Ben Youssef Madrasa

This beautiful medresa is a stand out. The students quarters can get a bit cramped when large groups are present but the intricate carvings and tile work make this one is the more impressive architectural sights in Marrakech.

My 15yr old son Josh & I travelled through Morocco with Hassan's Morocco Excursions . He organized the trip around the things we wanted to see & do. I wanted to see Volubilis ( the ancient Roman ruins) & Ait Ben Haddou. Josh wanted to Quad bike through the desert ( which was the most amazing fun) and ride camels ...

    Jamaâ El Fna

The best part of Marrakech, this is the most vibrant square I have been to in any city in the world. SO MUCH GOING ON. Restaurants, food stands, stores, performances, concerts, animals, tea, hanging out... it is a truly massive and vibrant square (especially at night) which is one of my worldwide highlights and makes Marrakech an awesome destination.

After a few days in the desert , seeing so much water is a delight. Go there in the middle of the day, around say 14, when it's very hot ,as the water just refresh you. Can't remember what the guide told us about the history of those garden in details but it was quite interesting.

    Vallee de l'Ourika

    4.5
    6 reviews

This valley is a summer escape for Marrakech residents, as it's much cooler up here, and the end of the road is marked by a trail up past a series of waterfalls (seven, I believe--though in terms of hiking, it's diminishing returns after the fourth). There are nice little family-friendly guesthouses all along the winding road up.

Even though this newly renovated gem is out of most travelers' price range, the public rooms and exquisite bar are well worth a visit. A magnet of the internaitonal jetset, you may be able to find your Italian princess while sipping a $14 glass of champagne!

    Saadian Tombs

    4.5
    6 reviews

The Saadian Tombs in Marrakech were sealed up for centuries until their rediscovery in 1917. Occupying a quiet enclosure at the kasbah, the tombs are magnificently decorated with colorful tiles, Arabic script and elaborate carvings. The site may have been a burial ground before the Saadian period, but the earliest known burial dates from 1557 and all the main buildings ...

    Palais El Badi

Not as nice as Palais de la Bahia. Palais El Badi is more of a ruin, than a castle. However, it's a nice place to walk around and check out the orange trees and the storks on their nests.

    Musee de Marrakech

The exhibits are okay but the real draw here is the building itself. One of the main tourist sights and worth a visit just for the inner courtyard and old hammam.
