If you browsed through my guide you should be able to tell by now that I am a big fan of Marriott hotels and resorts lol. However, I do like to try new hotels to live a new experience. I couldn't say no to the Marriott Chateau Champlain though. The hotel has a nice view from the top floors, access to underground Montreal directly from the lobby, and of course the standard Marriott amenities.Recommended for:

Been here on business trips as this is the main hotel where all my coworkers stay. Its a beautiful hotel with direct acces to the subway underneath and stunning views when you get a room at the upper levels. In the winter, it can get a bit dry and static electricity can be an issue (at least during one of my trips) but the hotel staff is helpful and friendly in helping you resolve all your issuesRecommended for:

It is very convenient to everything. The rooms are on the small side, but if you are lucky enough to get a park view on a high floor, the views are amazing! The staff were all very friendly, except for the valet, so we opted to park nearby in a 24 hour facility for just $15/day. It is also right on the Metro. You can take the elevator from the lobby right to Bonaventure station without going outside.

Chateau Champlain has that old charm that seemed to dominate the 1970’s, it truly is a grand old hotel. First built as part of Montreal’s famous Expo 67, at the time it must have been a sight to see, stately and prestigious, it reminds me more of the Montebello (if that reference works for you) than a hotel that represents a great metropolis like Montreal. However certain features make the imagination run amuck wondering what types of parties they might have entertained here in the glory days. The full cabaret theatre is something special; see the pics, I would love to have been sitting in that room sipping a martini watching a classic burlesque show that were once infamous in Montreal, and are now making a comeback. The rooms were recently redone giving an interesting contrast from the hallway (especially the carpeting) though I wish they had done something more classic and stylish than the standard looking hotel decor in order to give it a nostalgic essence. Next Halloween I’m throwing a 1920’s themed party here.

Excellent place to stay it is close to shopping on Ste Catherine. The one thing that I liked it had an entrance to the underground subway known as the Metro in Montreal. You have to pay for internet access and make sure you bring your laptop. Also lots of little stores especially a jewelry/handbag shop, excellent prices.
