I confess the Marriott is my favorite hotel brand anyway, but this particular Marriott is at the top of the list. The location is stunning right on the bay, so views are spectacular, and the convenient access to the trendy Gaslamp Quarter, the San Diego Convention Center, the trolley, downtown San Diego, and tons of restaurants and bars makes this a perfect stay. The hotel is beautiful, service is exceptional; you can't go wrong staying here!Recommended for:

San Diego, CA; San Diego, the city of sunshine. When staying in San Diego I heavily recommend staying at the Marriott Marina which is literally on the Marina and a block away from the Gaslamp District. Watch the sunset at the Marina or try some amazing Italian food at the Gaslamp District. This Marriott resort offers a large pool for the family as well as balcony views of the Marina as well the beautiful island of Coronado. RG 4/2010 and 11/2013

The Marriott Marina is one of the more beautiful Marriotts in the family - right along the San Diego bay and near Seaport Village, you are only steps away from all the downtown and oceanfront action. The Convention Center is next door, the marina leads you straight into Seaport Village, or you can cross the street into the Gaslamp Quarter. And their pool resort is stunning! Tiki torches, cabanas, fire pits and comfy luxury patio chairs, plus a jungle-like array of trees and shrubbery. Plus, they have an in-house Starbucks, and a private ferry that takes you across the bay to the Coronado Marriott Island Resort. I love this hotel.Recommended for:

A hotel in Gaslamp District, right off the bay with views of Coronado, a walkway leading to Seaport Village and the navy ships..
Well, first things first, the gloomy weather didn't allow me to get the tan I needed in their pretty, tropical pool area: two pools + a jacuzzi + a waterfall +lotsa palm trees. I so badly wanted to soak the sun but SD's gloomy clouds had to visit during MY visit. Their pools were heated so at least I got to go in for a short bit. I know if I ever come back I HAVE to hit the pool if weather permits.
I took full advantage that the hotel was right off the Seaport Village walkway and had my morning run to the US Navy ships to the Hilton and back to the hotel. I was even able to work out some more at the next door SD Convention Center and made my own stair master. Plus this hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk to Gas lamp!
The rooms themselves were quite average. Luckily our group had a Bay View Guest room with two double beds, which I must say were quite comfy. After having some fun in the district, I slept like a baby in that bad. The bathroom itself was kind of small, but I did like the complimentary Bath and Body Works shampoo, conditioner and body soap.
Service and Parking.. hmmm this is probably why I give this place a 3 and not a 4. When you drive up to the hotel you have options: Self parking or Valet. And you self park either at the north or south parking lots. I went to the south and yanno what.. it's ALL outdoors. Considering I HAVE to pay $24/night for SELF parking outdoors seems kind of outrageous to me. While I drive around there is NO parking available. So after driving around 3 or 4 times, I go to the kiosk parking guy and he told me to go to valet and they'd give me a discounted valet rate. Awesome. so I drive up and the lady, wish I got her name, gave me this attitude about I should have went to the North parking lot after looking through the South lot. FIRST OF ALL, I drove around a billion times in that lot lady. And there's NO signs telling me drive to the NORTH lot if I can't find parking at a hotel that I'M staying at. Plus I shouldn't have to have such a difficult time finding parking in the first place. Any way, she gave me the self parking price at the end of it. Just wish she didn't have to give me so much attitude.
Other than that, Marco P, a service guy in the lobby, was nice enough to try to get us hookups for a some club/lounges we wanted to hit up in Gas Lamp. And the concierge lady, (I wish I remember her name!) was nice enough to find some Mexican restaurants to hit up for lunch on Sunday and gave us a map and all.
Food: The hotel had their own small store with souvenirs and overpriced snacks just like any other hotel. I grabbed some yogurt and fruit from their Starbucks, which had a small sitting area looking over the pool. For a late night snack I had some Chicken Sliders ($12 for 3 with french fries) at their Lobby Lounge. The sliders had lettuce and spicy mayo and fried chicken breast. Unfortunately they forgot to put in the dill pickle. The food was only a 3 to me. It tasted pretty bland and the spicy mayo wasn't even spicy. The fries were alright and I did like their crunchy again. Was it worth $12? No.
So would I ever come back? The location is pretty awesome and I guess I would... just on a sunnier day.
