This is a HUGE hotel in the heart of downtown Atlanta. As soon as you walk up to the hotel there is a gorgeous water feature in the drive way. This is a really popular place to stay for major conventions like DragonCon and the hotel. The day I visited they didn't have a room for me to take a look at because they were fully booked but I did stop by the fitness center, which is connected to the hotel spa and is very nice. There is a full service Starbucks and more conference rooms than you can count. There is also a walkway between the Marriott Marquis and several other downtown hotels that let you go from one building to the next without ever having to step outside. And you get a pretty cool view of the city skyline. This hotel is obviously gorgeous and had just about every amenity but I was sort of put off by how busy it was-- it looked like Hartsfield Jackson airport! If you're like me and want more of a lowkey hotel stay this may not be the place for you.

This is Atlanta’s biggest downtown hotel, readily visible from throughout most of the city. It’s really a massive operation, with hundreds of rooms and more than 40 stories tall. It’s almost overwhelming when you first walk in. The rooms themselves are not exactly luxurious, but they're nice and clean enough and I doubt anyone would find a reason to complain. If you get a city view room then you’ll be in for a treat – you get an absolutely breathtaking view of downtown from the higher-up floors, especially facing the south side and the gold dome.
If you’re staying in the Marquis, you can get pretty much everything done that you need to without ever leaving hotel. I think there’s about three restaurants, plenty of workspace and conference space, small retail stores, and a full-size Starbucks. It would be a shame if you stayed in, though – you’re right in the heart of Atlanta, just a MARTA stop away from Georgia’s capitol building and a short ride from a lot of the great midtown attractions like the Fox Theatre.Recommended for:Business Travelers

The Marriott Marquis is enormous—the lobby is cavernous, there are several beautiful dining options that are bigger than many of the city’s restaurants, and I didn’t dare venture into all of the conference space for fear that I may never find my way back out! So, for a conference hotel, the Marquis is perfect: plenty of average-sized rooms, huge fitness center, 24 hr room service, a gigantic indoor/outdoor pool—and all of the facilities looked up to date and clean. However with the huge space, the service suffers—the staff was friendly enough, but I felt that they were always swamped and that if I needed something it had better be Important! Now there were two conferences happening simultaneously while I was here, so it was exceptionally busy. As in, happy hour was in full swing by 3:30. I would recommend the hotel to conference attendees who really want to stay at the conference venue. Otherwise, branch out and stay at one of downtown’s other great hotels where you can get more personal service and avoid the crowds.

This is the premier hotel if you're attending Dragon*Con. It's absolutely huge and the place to be if you want to see some amazing Cosplay and have a geeky conversation or two. Dragon*Con aside if you want a great experience in Atlanta this is an amazing hotel. The lobby is massive and you don't even have to go outside if you want to get to some of the surrounding hotels or even browse the mall and grab a bite to eat - it's all connective via walkway.

I seem to have the best hotel experiences when I travel solo, and this was no exception. Here to attend a very convivial writers' conference. Fond memories of leaving my door open just to hear the ambient sounds of other participants playing music, having lively conversations, and tossing paper airplanes off their balconies into the gigantic atrium. Room service was excellent as was the in-house restaurant where I first tried a dessert that combined sweet and salty tastes, soft and crunchy textures...FOND memories indeed!
