The Custom House contributes history, class, and luxury to Marriott's diverse hotel chain. The hotel is nestled in a historical tower that dates back to 1849 when the building was used for U.S. customs operations. Now this landmark houses stylish one bedroom suites and spectacular views of Boston from every angle. One of the best amenities of this hotel is the open-air observation deck on the 26th floor.

While anyone is welcome to book just a few nights here, the vast majority guests at the Custom House are timeshare holders, who spend weeks at a time in the area. As such, the suites are all set up like little condos with separate bedrooms, baths, kitchen areas and living spaces. The building lobby is stunning with its Romanesque pillars, high dome ceilings and wrap-around balcony. The rooms are tastefully decorated in a blue and gold color scheme. I thought there was a nice, homey feel to them. And you can tell the wooden furniture and cabinetry is of a much higher standard than your typical hotel room. The location is perfect for sight-seeing and/or shopping and dining, and the views are fantastic. The one negative thing I will say is that there's sort of a snooty, unwelcoming vibe to the place, as if only the most elite members of the population are allowed here. No one was explicitly rude to me, that was just the feeling I got.

The Marriot Custom House is a resort hotel and time-share property named after Boston's 17th century Custom House, where royal commissioners once administered customs. The building that is there today was built during the mid-to-late 1800s. The hotel is conveniently along Boston harbor, near the Aquarium, Faneuil Hall, Downtown Crossing, the Boston harbor-walk and the Boston Commons.

Free wifi is available in each of the hotel's suites. Other amenities on offer are daily house keeping services, on-site laundry, local restaurant dinner delivery, valet dry cleaning, and more. Other features unique to the Custom House include an observation deck, a full fitness center, a game room, and a movie theater.

The Custom House's one-bedroom, one-bath suites offer spacious accommodations for up to four guests, with separate living and dining areas for a homelike feel. Bedrooms feature king-size beds with plush bedding for a restful night's sleep and a queen-size sofa bed in the living area offers extra room for families. All suites come with kitchenettes, complete with microwaves and tableware. Each room also has a television, VCR and DVD player.
