Gogobot has vacation rental listings too; the link is kind of hidden in plain sight--look for it under the the 'Explore Martha's Vineyard' heading on the right side of this page.

There is a great bus system that can take you to all the towns...

Adorable place but it gets very crowded! All the shops and stores are quite small but there are many to see. The little gingerbread cabins were my favorite part.

A must on any trip to the Cape, the Vineyard can be a day trip from the mainland or a destination in itself.

I love Martha's Vineyard. I've been coming here every summer (and some winters/falls) since I was a baby. It's got beach and small towns filled with shops. It's a great place to get away from it all... and the rich and famous certainly feel the same way. Obama, the Clintons and lots of other politicians have made MV their summer getaway.

In our house we constantly debate which island is better - Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket. This summer the Vineyard won for it's laid back lifestyle and vast options for house rentals at a variety of prices. We also love the inland biking and hiking opportunities.

Bring your salmon colored pants and pop your collar. Then rent a bike and tour the island. Don't miss the Black Dog.

It's the island life for me! I spent the summer season of 1988 and almost all of 1996 living on MV - and have spend numerous holidays at different family homes there over the years. Summer time on the Vineyard still ranks as one of my favorite things of all time. From hunting and then eating little neck clams to dinners at the Homeport to fishing off Dike Bridge on Chappy - the list goes one!
