One of the old mosque found in Singapore. Sultan Mosque. Rich in religious ambience. Do check out the interesting shops along the alley towards the mosque.

An impressive mosque. Built in 1826, it is the oldest mosque in Singapore. The Masjid Sultan also towers along Muscat Street in the lively Arab Quarter of Singapore. It's worth checking out.

Really unique and interesting. I wasn't able to go in but it was still cool to walk around and watch people go in.

The facade brings good atmosphere to the Arab Quarter. Worth passing by during a visit to the Arab Quarter but relatively new and not worth much time.

Description

Built with funds from the East India Company by the Sultan who ceded Singapore to the British, the Masjid Sultan has been an important site for Singapore's Muslim population for nearly 200 years. The original mosque was rebuilt in 1928 with an impressive gold dome; the base of the dome is made of glass bottles. The gardens around the mosque are of equal beauty.
