Another of Chinatown's budget favorites, this place on Jl. Hang Kasturi just south of the Central Market is distinguished by their staff, whom nearly everyone seems to love. New operators Sean and Ashley (yes, these are pseudonyms, but you try pronouncing Chinese names properly on a first go) are relentlessly helpful, and the dorms, private rooms, and common areas well looked-after and spotless. There's wifi and free breakfast, as with most of the better budget options in the area.

This place is right in Chinatown, so food and faux Louis Vuitton luggage are never a problem to find. It has clean bathrooms and dorms for around thirty ringgit ($10 U.S.) and single rooms for forty-five ringgit ($15 U.S.) which is hard (but not impossible) to beat. There are repeat stayers because it is a clean, cheap place with nice front desk workers and also because it's within walking distance of the long-distance bus station and the train line. There's a good wifi signal, and two computers with internet on the third floor. There aren't any windows in the rooms, and because of its location, right outside of the place the air tastes like diesel fumes, but the price is right, and you're right near all the stalls selling duck meat, vegetable spring rolls, wantons, fruit salad with prawn paste, yam cakes, salted eggs, rice noodles, BBQ pork, sweetened curdled soybean milk, grilled corn on the cob, and prawns in coconut milk soup among other foods. Don't even get me started on the variety of faux Louis Vuitton luggage for sale.

This is one good place to stay in but there is just too many like this hostel in the area. They are very tidy and clean inside which stands out the most. There is all the important things they need to have to attract backpackers. The area around it is too jammed packed with people that it is even hectic to go outside for a walk if you stay there for too long. Hawker food is just around the corner which still have my statement of overpriced. They are very near the public transport and Cultural Sentral Market Annexe. You can actually go to the nearest bus stop for less than 3 minutes and the LRT station is only 5 minutes walk away. That makes all the difference as public transport is important if you are saving money in your journey because taxis can actually rise sky high up to certain amount which is really ridiculous sometimes especially in Kuala Lumpur. If the price of Matahari Lodge is almost the same as else where I would choose Matahari Lodge because it's just better to be at a clean place where i don't need to walk too far from all the important things i need which is food and transport. The only problem is the busses around the area. They overcrowd the place around the bus station with parked busses which does not turn off their engine and causes the smell of fumes in the area go to this place.
