I just needed a cheap (yet clean and decent) place to stay for one night. I have stayed in Lahaina and Kihei before, usually because I prefer to stay in higher star hotels. But I wanted to stay in Kahului because of work and also a friend of mine who lives on Maui, lives in Kahului, so it was convenient.
I got Kama'aina rate, $104 with tax/fees. Not bad but still overpriced. The bed was comfortable enough, the place was not loud at all, and it's right on the beach. The pool looked really nice and clean, and although I didn't get to use it, I did get to sit by the pool and catch some sun for a bit. The staff was friendly and helpful, and I really appreciated the computers in the lobby area, as it allowed me to web check in and print out my boarding pass.
Would definitely look into staying here again if I ever needed a place to stay in Kahului and the price was right.
If you don't need something fancy, and you want something clean & affordable, then this is the place for you.

A clean, basic motel/hotel near the airport, on the beach, and north of the main part of the town of Kahului. This two-story spot has a restaurant, pool, and lanai. It's also next to two other, very similar properties. All are around $100 a night.

The Seaside Hotel is the place you want to stay in a pinch going from here to there or during an overnight layover in Kahului. Considering the price and proximity to noise and pollution there are better places to spend your whole vacation. There is a big pool and spaces are clean and manicured. The seaside resembles a Motel 8. It has a vintage charm that is entertaining and a little nostalgic. Luckily there is an ocean view, which is a welcome relief from the sight of Kahului. For a place to crash over night, convenience is really a savior. The Coconut Grill is the in-house option for meals. Whole Foods is right down the road if your wanting real food. Also, from here you can hop on the public transportation system and head 10 minutes west to Wailuku or 15 minutes east to Paia for a change of scenery.Recommended for:Budget Travelers

The Maui Seaside Hotel, in Kahului just 10 minutes from the airport, is located right on Kahului Harbor, is a “value-priced” hotel with standard rooms starting at $99 a night, just less than the Maui Beach Hotel next door. Much like the Maui beach this is a value for the buck, and while clean and convenient, is not a resort experience. High speed Internet is available for a fee.
One of the best things about the hotel is how nice the people are, and the free breakfast at their Coconut Grill Restaurant. You get to choose between three hot breakfast choices. Their “Local Style” dinners are okay, but for lunch or dinner I prefer Bistro Casanova, right across the street. There are also several nice places to dine just across the street in Queen Kaahumanu Center.
If you are on Maui to Wind Surf or to attend an event at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center this hotel is a good choice, because you are very close to both. If you are looking for more of a luxurious experience in lodging try Kikei or Wailea.
