One of Bangkok's most popular and largest malls, MBK serves as a great air-conditioned oasis. Here, you'll get an idea of the latest teen fashions and movie releases. But my favorite thing is to walk around the bridges connecting MBK and Siam Paragon (another mall nearby). At night, merchants lay out their wares (knick-knacks and clothing, mostly), and—my favorite—breakdancers practice and break out their acrobatic moves.Recommended for:Foodies

8 level complex dedicated for nothing else but shopping. I was looking for to unlock my cell phone and to buy a new memory card for my camera and found out there were a whole 2 floors dedicated to nothing but electronic gadgets. Don't buy at the first store you see, you will need to improve your bargaining skills here! :-)

MBK is the sort of shopping center with lots of tiny stalls all crammed into one place. I don't understand how anyone can really shop here. How do you decide where to buy from when every stall is basically the same? How do you not get totally distracted? It's a little overwhelming.

If your backpacking for an extended period of time in SE Asia you start to realize that not every night needs to be an epic event. Sometimes you just want A/C and something resembling the western world. When I get this feeling I go here, eat subway, and watch a movie on a massive screen.
Plus standing for the Thai tribute to the king before the movie starts is a cultural experience in itself.Recommended for:Backpackers

MBK is NUTS - think of all the street market stands placed in stores and stacked side by side and on top of each other. You need to come in here with a purpose.
Their movie theater is very nice and spacious, though one thing to note (and this is true about all movie theaters in Thailand) is that a brief "tribute" to the King of Thailand will be played before each film, and you will need to stand up along with the rest of the movie goers until the tribute finishes.
