Finding a great hotel in Rome is not easy, but this hotel really surprised me. It's just a block away from the Santa Maria Maggiore -- one of Rome's most important basilicas. There are some other important things to see. Best of all, the hotel is just a short walk to the Vittorio Emanuele metro stop (linea A) that can quickly get you to the Vatican, Piazza di Spagna and many other sites. The interior is nice, and their major selling point is the rooftop terrace and garden with some amazing views of the city. The room prices are a bit on the high side, but, given the location and the terrace, you do get what you pay for.

Mecenate Palace hotel is in a great location, right next to Santa Maria Maggiore church. It is central to metro Termini and within walking distance of many sites. Rooms architecture is classic, they are not so spacious but cozy, warm and perfectly clean. Bathrooms are really comfortable, well equipped with two handbasins, a heated towel rail and a relaxing jacuzzi. You have everything you need, also a kettle for tea or coffee and a radio. Windows are well insulated so you are not disturbed by traffic noise. The hotel has also sky bar, an internet point and a meeting room. There's no a private parking. Both the hotel and the restaurant staff are kind and they care of you, they make you feel like you are at home. The roof terrace has a memorable view of Rome and the nearby church and you can admire this wonderful scenary every moring while you are having breakfast because breakfast room it's right there!

The view from the terrace balcony was great, directly overlooking the piazza of S.Maria Maggiore and far reaching sights... I loved it. I love hotels whith terrace most, and views from high in general, so this hotel was perfect! We were in walking distance of the Colosseum and the centre of Rome. To go to the Vatican you can use the red line metro station, that is 5 minutes walk away. The Railway station is only 10 mins walk away. Great value to the excellent location and costumer service. They also offer american breakfast served on the roof garden. In addition there is also Happy hour and Buffet. The rooms have a wonderful view, and they are clean and well accessoried. Most of all, it's a lovely place to stay: we would return.

I can’t help but be charmed by the extras: fluffy complementary bathrobes in the bathroom. The flip side of that is that I can’t help but be annoyed by the stereotypical bad-taste hotel floralness of the room. The rooftop terrace and restaurant has absolutely killer views of Rome. The bar in the hotel is decked out in plaid and has almost an Irish feeling. Nothing was superlative about this place: not bad, not awesome. As the Italians would say, “cosi cosi.”

I liked everything about the Mecenate Palace except the American style (read: strong) air-conditioning. And I realize that is probably a big plus for many of my fellow Americans swimming in the soupy air of a hot Roman summer. Cold blasts aside, the Mecenate Palace has elegant, lovely rooms which are stylish without being overwhelming. The service was similarly professional, nice without being too nice. The roof terrace makes a strong case for this place, however, as there is nothing I like better than relaxing way up high above the roar of the motorini and the footfalls of tired tourists. The Mecenate is definitely worth staying at, but won't knock your proverbial socks off. You shouldn't be wearing socks in Rome in June, anyway.

I've stayed at this hotel twice now, and have been amazingly impressed each time! With the roof garden over looking the amazing view of Santa Maria Maggiore, breakfast was prefection. And the view is equally stunning at night with the lights illuminating the city below. Service was astounding and if i were to visit Rome again this hotel would be top of the list, of corse the delicious ice parlour next door might have something to do with that haha.
