Astrid Gutsche, the wife of celebrity chef Gaston Acurio, has long been a promoter of Peruvian cacao. After searching the country for the best sources and establishing relationships with local farmers, she decided to launch her own chocolate shop. The bonbons, truffles, bars and "besos" (kisses) are all delicious, and many feature unique combinations of Peruvian flavors. Recommended, in no particular order are: the beso with chicha morada (a Peruvian purple corn drink), the algarrobina (a molasses-like syrup from a carob tree) truffle, and a heart-shaped bonbon with Sacha Inchi (the Inca peanut).
