Cairo, Egypt is the site of the rather small open air Memphis Museum. Although the museum does not contain many specimens, a colossal statue of Ramses II is worth examining. The huge statue is broken and reclines, giving the viewer a close up look of the face. While the ancient city of Memphis no longer exists, some more recently built homes occupy space near the ruins. There are a few other statues and items of interest including Egypt's second largest sphinx, an impressive work carved of alabaster. Even though the entire display takes no more than 30 minutes to view, the museum is a must see for those who have an interest in Egyptian history.
