I've never really been huge on sandwiches but over the years, I've grown to enjoy them especially from places that serve up a more gourmet styled ones and Mendocino Farms definitely does that.
I came for the soft-opening event for the DTLA location at Figat7th and was able to sample a few of the sandwiches. I decided on the Braised Lamb Sandwich since I'm a lamb fan and I thought this sandwich was really quite good. The braised lamb was tender, flavorful and moist which was a big plus for me because if there's one thing I hate, it's a dry sandwich. I hate anything that is dry in texture which I find most sandwiches are. I really enjoyed eating this sandwich, however, and would consider ordering it again next time. The combination of the lamb, red onions and leafy greens was really good.
I also was able to sample the Curry Couscous and a Pasta Shell side and both were pretty darn delectable.
The punch I had to wash everything down was pretty special too.
The sandwiches served here are quite fresh tasting and they use quality ingredients. They get creative here with the various types of sandwiches that are offered so I feel everyone would be able to find something they like. Even if you're not a huge sandwich eater like me, something will strike your fancy. I will definitely be back which believe me, is saying a lot, especially coming from a quasi sandwich-hater like me.

This place has single-handedly turned me into a sandwich lover.
Large slices of melted brie, truffle mushroom risotto, perfectly cooked asparagus and fresh tomatoes - all in a crunchy panini. Hot damn. I loved every bite. O even ate (or more like licked off) the bits and pieces that fell out of my panini onto my wrapper.

Love the vegan banh mi! The sandwiches here are made with high quality ingredients and the staff really cares about providing an enjoyable experience.
The prepared salads and soups are also great and very vegan and vegetarian friendly. They have a unique variety of artisan sodas to go along with their exquisite menu selections.Recommended for:Vegetarian

My favorite sandwich spot in the whole entire universe.
First off, let me get this out of the way: Pork belly banh mi is not very good. I personally think it's overhyped. The Pork belly is shredded/dry-ish and the peanut sauce aioli makes the sandwich a little heavy with texture and flavors. I think at one time this sandwich was good, but I think it's not the best here.
My faves so far:
- Prosciutto & Roasted Chicken - incredibly thinly sliced salty prosciutto with soft roasted chicken. I'm a huge fan of the crunch in this sandwich because the honey roasted almonds.
- Papa Mario's Italian Deli Sandwich - a different style of an italian deli classic, with 2 types of salami's and 1 type of ham. I dream about this sandwich before I go to bed, I wish I were lying.
*I also hear their BLT is awesome which is something I need to try next time.
They are great with substitutions, and you can substitute any sandwich (even a grilled cheese) with a honey wheat tortilla wrap or other kinds of bread. Perfect for the picky eater
I have never encountered a rude Mendocino worker, either over the phone or at the cashier. They are polite, helpful, and personable.
Parking in the Watercourt/California Plaza is a pain in the ass, but there is a fairly close parking entrance on 5th. I highly recommend street parking because they charge an arm and a leg for the parking garages there. Mendocino Farms does not validate :(
They also have a secret menu and daily specials that you definitely should explore/ask about.
Working in DT, I plan on trying every sandwich :)

Love Mendocino Farms! There are 2 in the downtown area - one is bigger and more of a sit-down, but both locations are good.
The sandwiches here are delicious! So flavorful and fresh. I really like the chicken MBT sandwich for something lighter. If you want something heavier with lots of flavor, try the bbq pulled pork. The kurabuta pork belly sandwich is good too!
