A little crowded, a lot touristy, but a must-see on any visit to Rome. Great place for people-watching and taking a break from sightseeing.

    Saint Clement's Basilica

0.07 mi from Mercure Roma Delta Colosseo
    13 reviews

The church itself is nothing much to see, but the underground crypts are. Venture beneath the church to see a pagan temple repurposed for Catholic ritual. There are tombs and arches and corridors that lead every which way. It's not a massive labyrinth, but it's a fun little detour. Head down far enough, and you'll see where fresh mountain water ...

    Domus Aurea

0.04 mi from Mercure Roma Delta Colosseo
    12 reviews

The Domus Aurea (Golden House) was a large landscaped portico villa. Designed to take advantage of artificially created landscapes, Domus Aurea was built by the Emperor, Nero, in the heart of ancient Rome, after the great fire in 64 AD had cleared away the aristocratic dwellings on the slopes of the Palatine Hill.

    Coming Out

0.19 mi from Mercure Roma Delta Colosseo
    5 reviews

Coming out is the most visible gay bar in Rome. Right next to the Colloseo, it attracts a huge tourist crowd, though you'll find locals too. It's kind of surreal, like a gay club next to Vatican City. The drinks are cheap, the crowd is friendly, and the format really supports solo travelers. Because the actual bar is really, really ...

    Temple of Antoninus and Faustina

0.21 mi from Mercure Roma Delta Colosseo
    3 reviews

Probably my favorite part of the Foro Romano. The Temple of Antoninus and Faustina houses a great interior of murals and displays of old Roman things. I'm not sure if it's always open or not, but do try and make it inside. It's also a nice break from the sun.

Do not miss a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady in Trastevere. This Basilica is one of the oldest Churches of Rome. The basic floor plan and wall structure of the church dates back to the 340s. After the visit, do not look at your map and just get lost in the nice small cobblestone streets of Trastevere. You ...

    Obelisco di piazza San Pietro

0.21 mi from Mercure Roma Delta Colosseo
    2 reviews

As a marvel of ingenuity and engineering, the Roman aqueducts are amazing but the aqueducts in France and the Aqueduct of Valent in Istanbul are far more impressive visually.

Located away from the busy streets and up on the hill, getting to the Chiesa di SS Quattro Coronati can be tiring, but the results are worth it. With a beautiful cloister and a soothing interior, it's one of the more peaceful churches to visit. I had heard that you could view the frescoes depicting St. Sylvester and Constantine by ...

It's quite possible that this charming, homey-yet-classy bar in Trestevere has the best Belgian beer selection in Rome. Stop by before dinner for an aperetivo of peanuts, olives, and other snacks, or any time of day to play board games, lounge on luxe couches, or read one of the multi-language books in the shelves. This also is a great spot ...
